OK, so here's the deal. I've applied to schools on the mainland and I was wondering if you guys could give me your opinion on how I should perceive the ranks of the schools I applied to; my focus is biology and pre-med.

Accepted: Case Western Reserve, Creighton, Whitworth, University of Portland

Waiting: Occidental (most likely accepted), USC, Boston College, University of Notre Dame

Here's another thing; I might consider applying to University of Hawaii-Manoa just because it's in my home-state and I think I could do well if I were to attend next fall.

My thinking is I could stay home and go to UH-Manoa and get a high GPA that medical schools are looking for; I'm also looking to go to UH's medical school, JABSOM.

Any suggestions, thoughts???

I was also thinking about costs, etc. Going to UH-Manoa with no costs is a breeze...however going to one of the schools I've listed on the mainland would leave me with loans and parents still contributing a lot.

Case Western Reserve is a very good school : P. Sorry, I just had to say that, and it probably wasn't that helpful. Maybe if you could let us know about your preferences/what you're looking for in a college.

is cost a main factor for you?

myarmin - some of my preferences include a smaller school, population-wise (upwards to about a couple thousand students per class); professors are easy-access for students, making much time to help; biology and pre-med is top; school that is fairly known for feeding undergraduates into medical schools, has a strong reputation for that

bingcold - cost isn't really a main factor, but of course it is a factor; so with cost into the figure, how do you suggest?

i personally suggest case western... that school has great pre-med prep and if you like big city setting, then cleveland isn't bad. case overall also has good academics and research opportunities

I am also considering case western at the top of my list; however, would you know how competitive it is with the pre-med program? (such as how cut-throat it may be?)

or maybe if you, or anyone else, know any numerical figures as far as case undergrad acceptances into medical schools?
