Anyone have a hunch as to how deep Caltech will reach into the waitlist pile this year (if at all?)

inconnu wher do you live?

Heerad: the chance of digging into the waitlist pile is not that great, based on the matriculation rate of Caltech from last year, which was 37%. Caltech issued 675 acceptance letters, with 37%, corresponding to about 250 students. Caltech's total undergrad is about 900 (approximately 225/year).

My advice: do not get yourself trapped on a not so good chance. If they do call you after May 1, you can always make decision then. But do not count on that.

mammall: My understanding is the acceptance and the scholarship notifications come together for RD round, separately for EA admits.

Some years they do go into WL. I'd advise letting them know you are interested, sending them notice re: something interesting you have done in last few months, and possibly adding a extra recomendation.

From experience, there are many more opportunities for upper level merit awards than the few open to freshmen. The upper class merit awards are offered for a range of activities, not just gpa and research.

haha "blizzard" in the midwest. anyone with a foot of snow outside manage to get mail?

my friend got her acceptance letter today (we're in northern california). She said there was another letter to her telling her about the "music house" and how they thought shed be interested to get involved with that program. I'm guessing her hook was music?

I live in California...raced to the mailbox, only to find!!!!

...a small envelope. Oh well.

accepted :D

For the internationals: I'm American but live overseas. For EA it took only 2 days to get here (Germany), I had forgotten the data so it was an amazing suprise.

D got the acceptance letter. We are in Northern California. For those accepted, congratulations! For those not, please keep the faith, I am sure that you'll have good news at the end of the month.

congrats to all you who got accepted. I am slighly confused because people have gottn rejections and waitlists already too...guess have to wait until monday

Waitlisted today. Surprised the mail got here so fast (Indianapolis). Oh well, wasn't expecting to get in anyways.

I'm in Detroit. Does this mean the mail gets distributed strangely across the Midwest or does it look like I have a (slightly) stronger chance of being accepted?

Waitlisted. Does anyone know how many people are on the waitlist?

Las year they had ~360 waitlisted students and ~650 RD acceptances, if I am not mistaken. That means this year it should be about the same...

What kind of class size are they looking for?

Hey gugs?...any internationals who got acceptance?....I'm worried if fedex people won't call me by today it might be a rejection....god please call me....

Fedex ppl don't work on saturdays and sundays... So don't expect a call.. My prediction is that everyone will get their mail (from intl) tomorrow.. Maybe in Tuesday... If you don't get it by Tuesday, your going to get email anyway ;)

so no worries man :)

I don't know why some of your are freaking out about the time, but acceptances comes on the same day as rejections and waitlists.
And there IS a chance of your mail gets lost (OMG like my EA defer letter that showed up 2 weeks late).
Good Luck!

Who is going to Prefrosh Weekend?
