Decisions Mailed!!!!!!!!

Apparently RA selection has begun, from what myMIT said i first thought that decisions had been mailed...

How will I know the decision? Will I be able to read it on myMIT? Mymit also says the decisions have been mailed.

Mine says so as well. I sort of freaked out when I saw it, since I wasn't expecting it to be this early.

Whoa... I saw this thread and figured the first post would be "hahahahahaha" or somesuch. But sure 'nuf...

Freshman Online Application & Tracking

The application process for entry year 2006 has ended via the mailing of decisions. Best of luck to all applicants!

Sounds to me like a hack, or like they were testing out the software and forgot that they'd left that up. Unless they're all cooperating to surprise us (including writing blog entries that would imply selection took all of 2 or 3 days--http://ben.mitblogs.com/), it can't be for real.

...gah, and this makes it impossible to check whether they've received my midyear report!

Hi folks,

I see in the comments from my last entry that MyMIT is telling people that decisions have been mailed. I've asked the tech folks to look into this; I have no idea why it's happening. Selection committee takes weeks and we're only beginning day 4; rest assured that we're far from finalizing any decisions, let alone mailing them. Looks like the language didn't get updated as it was supposed to.

Hopefully this will be fixed in a few hours. Sorry for any confusion!

i was gonna post the same thing..but i think u beat me to it olo :D

OK, whew. Yeah, reading that decisions had been made sort of freaked me a bit...good to know that there's still a while.

I was amazed at their quickness in selection :D

it's kinda scary lol.
i mean, i've been antsy waiting for decisions for so long, but to know that places are making decisions now is scary. less than a month til decisions start coming in!!

MyMIT said this:

"Freshman Online Application & Tracking

Application tracking is no longer available for entry year 2006. Best of luck to all applicants!"

Any idea how we check to see that our midyear reports made it?

Perhaps by using the telephone? :)

But...but...the internet is my friend...

yea id wish they kept it a bit more jus to let us check our midyear's. kinda loses the purpose of having midyear report status indicator earlier...

altho mit's tracking system was the best of that of all my colleges! :]

im really hoping that they post decisions online, i mean, there's no surprise left in getting the decisions in the mail. if i open up my mailbox and see a thin little envelope, i might not even open it...

im not going to look online if they are posted, cause its just so blunt

i rather read a thank you for trying but you failed than a "in" or "out"

to each his own. It seems like decisions might be mailed even after Pi Day, according to Ben Jones' blog, which is even more incentive for me to check them online.

^dittoed
...

The anticipation is about to kill me. Good thing I applied to my rolling admissions state U so I don't kick off early with a rejection.

Were decisions posted online last year? If so, when? When were decisions mailed?

They were not posted online last year nor any previous year. They were mailed [url=ben.mitblogs.com/archives/2005/03/inthemail.html]last year on March 11th/url, but there are no guarantees that selection will be complete in time to mail that early this year.

i hear from a legacy friend that it'll be mailed (or recieved?) on the 17th

Idk of the validity of his statement, but I do think it'll be later than last year's.
