34 ACT, didn’t send SAT, 4.74 W, 4.0 UW

AMS~! I’m so thrilled and surprised!! And yeah, the FA package was amazing!

Yep just got one too :D

Got one in the mail, pretty cool! Question for others who received one: was there anything handwritten at the bottom of the acceptance letter? I just wanted to see if that was unique or if they did that for everyone.

Based on reading old threads, I think they do it for everyone, even people accepted RD without the scholar designation. Congrats!

Yeah, I am pretty sure he writes one on all acceptances but I think he tries to make an effort to personalize it in some way. But no matter what it is still a lot more effort than most admission officers put in!

^I appreciated the extra effort. I can’t say Colgate is my first choice, but I do think the personalization is really cool. They should keep it up, it could definitely sway a few people.

My S got the AMS letter. It was great to hear that he got in but along with it was a fin aid letter buried in the back of the packet stating that they don’t offer merit aid and we are not eligible for need based aid, so Colgate is definitely off his list. When we visited fin aid became a huge part of the question portion of the info session. They made it sound like they could give $ to everyone just not a lot, so I’m a little bit surprised that a student receiving the AMS, recd not a dime and we clearly stated on the forms that we needed aid. Oh well, time to move on.

I’m glad to hear others did better and good luck to all of you who accept admittance to Colgate. My S already sent a notice to admissions stating that he will not be attending. He did it on purpose, in hopes that someone else who can afford the school will get his spot. Its a great school and certainly a beautiful campus. We wish everyone the best of luck.

Dungareedoll, do you think you will qualify for FA at other colleges and Colgate for some reason has your EFC too high? Did you use the Institutional calculator on Collegeboard to see what to expect? The FAFSA estimator will be different because it uses different criteria.

Colgate states clearly they don’t give merit $ and the AMS info (on the website) also says Colgate only provides need based aid. Did Colgate calculate your EFC higher than other Profile schools? This is the first Profile school we’ve heard from so I’m wondering how Colgate compares to other schools packages.
