does anyone know if the decisions are posted on line or only via US mail? Thanks

Two years ago, one could log on to the accepted student option of the website and get a congratulatory video, along with scholarship and financial aid info. Obviously, I don’t know if that’s true this year.

They will post online but the official notification comes in the mail. They had a problem last year when they accidentally accepted 61 students online then those students received their rejection letters a couple of days later.

Last year they began to post acceptances online at an applicant’s My Blue Hen site on Friday, March 11. Acceptance packets began to arrive on Saturday (a few of them) with a lot more beginning to arrive on Monday. As noted above only the mailed acceptance packet is official, but I doubt that we will see a similar online snafu this year as was seen last year.

Based on last year’s date I am guessing acceptances will begin to appear on Friday, March 9, but this is just a guess. Maybe they will wait until Monday to begin posting online to avoid any potential issues on the weekend, but who knows. Best of luck to everyone.

Can you tell me if you log in to your My Blue Hen site, will it state that you are accepted on that page?

If I recall correctly when you log into your My Blue Hen site (if accepted) it will open up with a “Congratulations” page display.

Thanks for answers!! Do you know if you are not accepted is there any notification on the My Blue Hen site or do you just wait and get notified by mail?

According to U Del admissions decisions will be sent snail mail, and not available online.

What happened last year was some people had a link to register for an accepted students program, and when they clicked the link it said Congratulations! It turned out the link had been posted to everyone’s Blue Hen, not just the accepted people. Some people who clicked the link thought they were accepted, only to find they were either rejected or waitlisted.

Moral of the story- don’t trust online and wait for your letter!

The Policy at UD Admissions has always been that formal decisions are only delivered by snail mail and not on line (this is what they tell everyone who asks about this). However once you get the acceptance package it will refer students to their accepted student website for further information/actions. Once packets are mailed I believe the website will be changed at the same time to reflect the acceptance. If not, and students got their acceptance packet and went to the website and nothing was there, that many would panic and UD would be inundated with frantic phone calls. So I still think that a student could still go to My Blue Hen Page and click on the accepted students icon, sign in, and see what appears. Just my thoughts. Obviously I could be wrong.

@mwallenmd I am pretty sure that is what happened last year. People went to their My Blue Hen and saw a link to the accepted students page. But, it turned out the link was faulty, and it had been turned on for everyone, including rejected and waitlisted students. While it seems unlikely that UD would make the same mistake again this year, you never know; that’s why I cautioned against trusting anything online before receiving the actually snail mail acceptance.

Last year, a lot of students who this happened to not only thought they were accepted but told all their friends and family of their acceptance, only to find out that they were not in fact accepted. Don’t let this happen to you!

On the Univ of Delaware Twitter page the Admissions Dept posted that notification is only being sent by regular mail.

^^ Looks like the PR department is not taking any chances this year. Crisis management is not fun!

Yes, I’m sure there were a few lawsuits last year. I’m still hoping that I can get notified earlier via an email/online and that they just aren’t advertising it.

I agree with everything said on this thread up to this point. However, it still remains to be seen how, or if, UD addresses the online accepted students link issue I mentioned in my previous post on this thread. In any event it is my guess that in 7-10 days, if not sooner, we will begin to hear something on this CC site about OOS acceptances. Best of luck to all applicants. UD is a great school and the education you can get there, if you apply yourself, is equal to that of any university in the country.
