To all of our applicants, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to implement an improved student administrative system. We plan to post first-deadline decisions on Sunday, January 31. Please continue to visit this blog for the latest updates from our office."

Does this extra day hurt anyone else a little?

I know they have a new information system and all, but it cannot possibly be hard to give a holoistic review while still having an early deadline. Other colleges can manage(NC State even had theirs early haha)

Makes me rather upset and frustrated lol. Why this year, whhhhyyyyyyy?

Yeah if this was last year decisions would be posted next week. I’m not really anxious since UNC isn’t one of my top choices, but UNC admissions really has been disappointing this year.

I have no idea. If you didn’t get admissions decisions today (which I guess you didn’t, seeing as there’s no “OMG WHO GOT IN” thread), then my money would be that you’ll get them a week from today. That being said, I do not work for admissions, nor do I know anybody who does. Therefore, I could be dead wrong. I’m just going by the past several years of history.

yeah, that extra day definitely made my heart die a little inside.

i don’t see how much an extra day would help them, even if their new computer system is slowing them down. i could understand if it was an extra week (please god don’t let them extend it again), but just one extra day, especially since it’s a sunday, makes no sense.

If people’s opinion is really changed that much because of one day’s change, then they definately need to reconsider their priorities when considering what college to attend. It was said that the release date would be January 30th from the beginning, so one day (while a little stressful) really isn’t that long. Just relax.

First, I completely agree with what tarheel151 said. It’s one day. Yeah, sure, I’m going to be anxiously awaiting, but 24 hours is NOT that a big of a deal…This waiting game is stressful, but what can we do about it?

That being said, I feel like there may be a chance we’ll get our decisions if not in the coming week, the week after.

While the extra day is going to be a little tough, I don’t think it reflects badly on admissions. A new computer system can cause a multitude of problems and I know that they’re trying their hardest to get through all of the kinks.

In a comment posted by Stephen Farmer on the said blog entry, it seems like admissions doesn’t even know what time they’ll be able to post admissions decisions yet on the 31st.

Funny! Seriously, I really appreciate Stephen Farmer writing on the admissions blog. It really sounds like they’re struggling with the computer system and trying their best. I appreciate the communication from Mr Farmer and the rest of the admissions staff - clearly their hearts are in the right place and they’re working as hard as they can to get through these applications properly. Good luck to all of you!

I really don’t care about one extra day. If it means there’s less crashes and stuff on decision day, i’ll take 24 more hours. some of the posts on the blog are a little offensive and whiny. as far as I know with kids at my school, colleges don’t require you to even make a financial agreement for a few months. Yeah, admissions is working at a slower rate than before, but it’s a big EA pool for a huge school. cut em some slack.

and before people start accusing me of not taking UNC seriously with “you-don’t-want-to-go-there-LOL” stuff, it’s tied for my number one choice. I’m nervous, but being nervous won’t make Jan 31 come any quicker.

Agree with you deadmau5. Really, it’s 24 hours, we will all survive. We just don’t need to get too stressed about it and the time will go by quicker. I’ve wanted to go to UNC my whole life, and I’m super nervous…but come on…the one day isn’t a big deal.
