Waitlist. Depressing.

urgh muffins! i got waitlisted too. sooooooo disappointed =(
does anyone know how many they accept off of waitlist?

ahh I didn't realize I needed an ID and password, and I'm out of town and can't search for it. I don't want to wait for the mail.

unfortunately for those on the waitlist... Davidson's recent publicity will cause the percentage of people who get accepted and actually go there to skyrocket, thus there will be less spaces left over for people on the waitlist. Good luck to you guys!

It said in the 'questions' link on the letter(I think 20-40 a year). With the tourney success I doubt they'll take many if anyone this year though. Yield will probably be way high.

What were the stats of those of you who have checked already?

I'm a high school junior and Davidson is one of my top choices.

GPA: 4.12/4.0 (due to APs)
SATs: CR800,M700,W740
SAT2s: Math2-800, US History-740
APs: AB Calc-5, US History-5, World History-5

Took 7 APs during highschool, and all honors classes that were offered...
Yearbook editor, varsity field hockey captain, lots of community service stuff...

It's a great place, my sister is graduating from Davidson this year (and heading off to med school). Definitely keep it in your top choices!

Waitlisted here, too. Oh, well. It was one of my top three choices, but I'm into my #1, so I'm not too bummed.

Well, I got my information and found out I was waitlisted. Even though Davidson isn't at the top of my list at this point, I'm kind of disappointed. It makes me more nervous for March 31, that's for sure.

Accepted!
It's my 4th choice (out of 11 schools), after Brown, Georgetown, and Middlebury.

Another guy waitlisted. Certainly was a reach, kind of expecting it, but oh well. All I hope is I receive the answer I want from other colleges.

Waitlisted.

Does anyone know how many people they waitlist and what's even the chance of getting in from the waitlist?

waitlisted with a 27, mediocre gpa, ok essays, not athlete. Did anyone get denied?

Waitlisted, 3.9+gpa, 2260 SAT (780m, 760cr), great recommendations, visited twice, legacy (brother attends, uncle attended), 13 APs at graduation, major physical disability...

All my friends at Davidson said I'd get in so it's pretty surprising...
The pamphlet they sent out says 15 guys and 3 girls got in off the waiting-list last year but doesn't give the size of the pool.

eek
only 18 people
looks like chances are pretty slim

Any demographic breakdown on percentage of applicants who are female? Male? Acceptance rate of female applicants? Male?
Those gender numbers from the waitlist for female applicants are pretty darn daunting. That's what prompted the question.

Finally read the brochure and looked at the numbers. Thinking it was likely a statistical aberration for last year for women.

I heard an NPR interview about Davidson's admissions office looking like this year is going to break all trends. With the basketball team succeeding in the tournament, they're worried about a yield of 570+ (100 more than the 470 they needed). I think those of us on the waitlist are staying there and that the class of 2012 at Davidson could be unreasonably huge. A number that big could seriously strain the college's infrastructure, especially housing.

I haven't been able to find the interview online but it was the assistant dean of admissions at Davidson and a representative from George Mason.

"Right now, we're looking at it and we're wondering, everybody's joking on campus, what is our yield going to be like? Right now, instead of having an incoming class of 470, I think there's great concern that we may have an incoming class of 570 or 670, which we would not have great ease in accommodating." - Christopher Gruber, Vice President of Admissions and Financial Aid
