Decisions Soon?

MConklin said in two other threads already that the IB scholarship is most likely a mistake

Busy is right… Unfortunately, an error has been made in delivering merit scholarship information. Students are only eligible to recieve one scholarship. We are working on correcting the error and I will update you as soon as I have more information.

In terms of programs…which ones are you specifically referring to? Another question  Has anybody from Long Island got accepted yet?

yes dd was accepted from LI 2 weeks ago to school of eng, received invited for GEAR & scholarship week after acceptance

Is it too late to send in additional info for consideration in application?

Not too late - I recommend calling first and faxing the document shortly thereafter. If you call, the information that you provide over the phone will be added to your file via counselor notes while the document is waiting to processed.

would sending an architecture portfolio be of any use, given that the arch major is still in limbo?

how many waves of acceptances are left, again? :</p>

Everyone should have a letter by April 1st, with the exception of those students that have not yet completed their applications or have completed their applications late.

Brooklynborndad… an architecture portfolio would interesting from the standpoint of understanding your son/daughter’s interests in architecture, but it will not be reviewed by any Rochester faculty. In other words, it’s another dimension of your son/daughter that we’d like to see, but as an admissions counselor I am not in a position to scrutinize his/her portfolio with the intent to determine whether or not he/she is a good fit for an architecture program.

Speaking as a parent who has not yet received a decsion for my DS, an acceptance/rejection/waitlist 3 weeks ago is the same result as one received a week from now. As MConklin has said, they review each app very carefully and as some have seen, make a personal reference in each acceptance letter. This takes time. Sit back, focus on your classes and Senior activities, and you’ll have ALL your decisions in the next couple of weeks. Hang in there and good luck!

This late in the process I am becoming nervous - U of R was my number one choice… but I didn’t put it on the common app because I didn’t want other colleges to think they are my “also-rans” would it be beneficial at all to notify U of R that they are my number one choice?

briangt: At this point it’s like walking up to a girl the day of the Senior Prom and asking “Would you go with me? You’re my number one choice!”. Did you apply ED/EA? Did you interview or try to interview? Have you visited the campus?
These things mean more in the application process than a last minute “You’re my number one choice!”.

How are decision letters sent to internationals? E-mail, Fed-ex or regular mail? If the last is the case then it would take ages for it to reach me. If Fed-ex is used is it also used for rejections? I’m a bit nervous since Rochester is pretty much my number-one choice and I haven’t heard anything from them yet.

Admit letters are sent via Fed-ex to internationals. (no email accompanies it)

However, waitlist & deny letters are sent via regular mail. An email will also be sent at the same time waitlist & deny letters are mailed to alert an applicant of waitlist / deny sooner.

AVHS Dad: I know, but theres no harm in asking…

URgrad2009: I guess then it’s a good thing that I haven’t received an email yet. :P

I’m quite nervous since of all the school I’ve applied, Lafayette is the only one I’ve heard back from and I got wait-listed by them.

check out the new thread I started… hopefully the information you find there will be helpful
