I have seen over the years that people keep asking where one got into and what one decided in the end as well as why one choose to go there. These have been on multiple threads and quite hard to locate. Thus, it would be easier to put it all in one, allowing future applicants to compare and contrast and get an idea for reasons.

Why: Close to home, MONEY!!! (Super full ride: $12,000/year stipend), can complete in 6 years, med. school (easy to get good match for residency, taking intraschool competition into account).

Accepted: Boston University Accelerated Medical Program, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Rice, Berkeley, University of Rochester, Case Western Reserve, University of Maryland

Decision: Boston University
Why: Good medical school, guaranteed. Boston > Baltimore and Durham.

why? it's not just a dual degree program, it's a TRIPLE degree program, u get a masters and bachelors in 4 yrs, and eventually ur MD, good med school
----it's ill

Accepted: TCNJ/UMDNJ, Drexel program (with lehigh and drexel undergrad), Univ of Miami 7 year, and a host of other unnotable colleges

Decision: TCNJ/UMDNJ

Why: Full ride, couldn't refuse it and the med school is much cheaper compared to the other ones (Drexel said it is currently running at $60k a year!!!!)

Accepted: Rice/Baylor, Northwestern, Brown PLME, BU 7 yrs, Stanford

Decision: Stanford

Why: My heart was at Stanford; however, I am completely in love with Baylor and will definitely apply there for med school. Undergrad will be stressful, but I think it will be worth it :)

Everyone seems to have amazing choices. Congrats!

Accepted: union/amc, rpi/amc, MSU MD scholars, PSU/Jefferson PMM prog, Dartmouth, and a bunch of other American and Canadian universities (regular undergrad) with full tuition for almost all the Canadian ones...

Decision: PSU/Jefferson prog

Why: Just a few of many reasons:
1- LOVED everything about both Jefferson and PSU when I visited them
2- finish in 6 years
3- good med school
4- i find this program to be worth the money for me, as compared to the other combined programs (considering how i don't get federal aid since i don't qualify [not a US citizen], and Canada doesnt give students money if its not being spent on a Canadian univ...ugh:rolleyes: )

SO...Congrats everyone, we've all made it! :)

Accepted: Case Western Reserve University BME, Johns Hopkins BME, Boston University BME, University of Miami, Penn State, Rutgers, University of South Florida 7 year program, Drexel 7 year program

Final choices: USF and Drexel combined programs

Final decision: Drexel

Why: Pressures mounting on all sides to stay close to home. 95% of the people who kept saying that I should go to Drexel are people I'm never ever going to see again, barring high school reunions. I don't know why I cave into pressure. Not one person told me to follow my heart--only theirs.

Sorry for the negativity. I'm excited about going to Drexel, I'm just *ed off that everyone had their own agenda for keeping me close to home. It's my life they're screwing with. What *es me off is that people were saying, "Oh, blah blah blah stay close to home," when they were going to schools across the country or they were juniors who are planning on going to schools that are an 8-hour drive from home.

Accepted: Emory, NYU, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, TCNJ (full scholarship), Rutgers, Lehigh, Rensselaer/AMC...as well as some other 4 year mediocre schools

Decision: Rensselaer/AMC

Why: Because it is the only combined degree program I got into out of the 9 I applied to (I got 3 interviews though). Competition this year was absolutely sickening!!!!!!!!!!!! I also like its proximity to NYC, Philadelphia, and Boston. The trip from Albany to Philadelphia is a little less than Dallas to Houston. Not bad considering that if I did not enroll in this program my parents would probably have forced me to go to Emory, since it is a decent college and much closer to Florida (I do not like living in the Southeast). Another great thing about this accelerated program is that AMC is much less competitive and that most of its students match at their top choice residencies.
