Accepted: UPenn Vagelos, Emory, Washu, UMich, Case Western (But rejected from PPSP), UMKC 6 year, University of Missouri-Columbia Conley Scholars

Decision: Mizzou Conley Scholars

Why: Haha well I had an incredibly hard time deciding this and sometimes I question the decision.. Conley Scholars gives you a guaranteed spot in their med school which is #16 in primary care as long as you keep a 3.3 GPA while taking their Honors courses..plus you don't have to take the MCATs. But additionally, you are allowed to apply out after undergrad if you want so there is flexibility there. Also, I am afraid of UPenn and not doing well there so I thought Mizzou would be my best, and safest, choice. It was really hard to give up UPenn..but.. I think Mizzou will still be awesome. :)

Accepted: VCU (BS/MD), University of Richmond, Georgetown University

Decision: Georgetown University

Stats:
SAT= 1990 (720 math, 620 verbal, 650 writing)
SATII= Biology M 780, Chemistry 670, Math IC 700
ACT= 30
GPA= 4.1 W (3.9 UW)
No rank
8 APs (help big time)- Chemistry, Biology, Physics B, Calc BC, US History, Comparativ Gov't/Politics, English Lit & Lang
Also being Syrian, bilingual, and playing the cool blue electric violin helped alot ;-)

Why: This decision was the hardest I ever made. I only applied to 3 colleges and one BS/MD (stupid, yes I know). However, VCU you need to keep a 3.5 average and that sure as hell isn't a cakewalk in college. Also, I live in northern Virginia so Georgetown is only a metro ride away (will be living on campus though). Georgetown is also offering $32k a year while VCU is giving me only $2500 (***???). Finally, Georgetown med school rocks and is very well known (besides the docs I work with at the pediatrics office graduated from there and one is even the admissions officer for the residency program). With the prestige that Georgetown has the undergrad experience will get anyone to high places. I am also doing the joint Georgetown-Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholars Program, which is pretty well known for placing students into M.D./Ph.D programs as well. Georgetown also will be offering a Neuroscience major in the next year or two so that's something to look forward to also. Let me know if you have more questions about Georgetown :-D

Keep posting your stats guys, its really helpful.

I currently have a 31 on my ACT, 1960 on SAT, and I just took 3 APs this past year. (I'll be a senior in the fall). I also just took my SAT II's. I'm researching and finding out when I can get my applications for all of these places, because I have alot of work ahead of me!

take the SATs again, you should break atleast 2100 to have a shot at some of these programs. 31 isn't bad, but if you have time, take the ACTs again too.

So I really need to break 2100 to have a shot at any of this?

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

i think so epsilon, don worry you are in the same situation as me, just need a hundred more points to get 2100

yeah epsilon, i would def. say you need to break it. Most of these programs even have a rule saying that you need a minimum of like a 2100 to even be considered for the program, and thats just a MINIMUM. I'm not trying to scare you, im sure you'll do fine, but im letting you know, they usually go for the 2200's. occassionaly there will be a few students who are just amazing but got like a 2150, so they'll take them, but it'll usually be the 2200+s that are considered for the program. Heck, Penn State flat out rejected me without looking at my application because I scored 10 points below their requirement.

I guess I'll post

Accepted: University of Missouri-Clumbia Conley Scholars, UMKC 6yr med, Albany/Union 8 year MBA/MD program, RPI/Albany 7 year MD, SLU Medical Scholars and Presidential Scholars, Georgetown University, University of Rochester

Waitlisted: Johns Hopkins, WashU

Stats --
GPA: 4.635w/4.0uw
Rank: 6w / 1uw of 660
ACT: 35
SAT: 2300 (770 math, 730 cr, 800 writing)
SAT 2s: Math 2 - 800, Chem - 750, Spanish - 690

Accepted to BME @ Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, University of Chicago, Washington U. St. Louis, UMKC 6-year BA/MD, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Illinois at Chicago - GPPA BS/MD, Loyola University Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology

Waitlisted: George Washington University 7-year BS/MD, but didn't wait to see whether I'd be accepted. I also showed little to no "interest" (ie interview, visit, info session, etc.) and no correspondence with college.

Decision: University of Illinois at Chicago - GPPA (BS/MD)

Why: For weeks I had my heart set on BME at Hopkins, and then I heard from UIC GPPA and UMKC. In the end it was the drastically lower tuition costs and obviously the guaranteed admission that I turned down Hopkins, but I chose UIC over UMKC because when I went for the UMKC interview, the student "tour leader" who was in Year 4 in the BS/MD program said that it wasn't a good program at all. He pointed out all the negatives. That did it for me...

thanks alot for all of those in college who still help us high schoolers out

you guys helped me make some important decisions, like not wasting time and money on some of the tough progs like northwestern and PLME

keep it up

between Rutgers and TCNJ..which one is better?....and is vcu really tht hard?

hey Arabi_Issa,

abt Georgetown University..do u knw wht the requirements are for admission (becaz i cant find it online)..thnx!

neha

Rutgers and TCNJ are both great undergrad schools and both equally tough to get in through 7-year. To decide the one to go to you should visit the campus and see which one you like better.

Also, Georgetown University doesnt have a program. The person who went to GT went there instead of accelerated med program.
