Decisions To Be Released 03/19/10 10PM CDT

@cantsaywho: Lucky you. You won’t have to deal with the server overloads.

Well, technically we’re going to London first. But after like 3 days we take a train from London to Haarlem for a Model UN Conference. We’ll also be seeing Charles Taylor (used to be President of Sierra Leone) go on trial in the ICJ and have a Q&A with the prosecutors. Excited, but bummed that the decision will either make or break my trip! lol

You may be surprised. I was rejected ED from my dream school of many years but I had a pretty happy lunch with friends a few hours later and didn’t brood too much over it.

The Netherlands are awesome! My favorite European country/Amsterdam as my fave city I think. It’s so much fun there. I flew to England in December, and we had a layover in Amsterdam for three hours. I was so upset that it wasn’t longer so that we could get out and walk around. But even the airport is awesome.

Best of luck to all you RDers! If it doesn’t work out, as I hear from my friends, rejection isn’t all that bad.

Hi,

I am from Pakistan. Will u please clarify what CDT stands for? Due to the time difference, I won’t be able to see the decision before 20th. Could u please compare this CDT time with NewYork’s(10hrs behind PK) because I am familiar with it?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Maheen 11, The CDT is an hour behind New York’s EST time~ so that will be 11 hrs behind PKs time

Good luck to you! I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Which other schools did you apply to? is chicago ur first choice?

Thanks again syd200365. Besides UChicago, I have aplied to Cornell, Upenn, Umich, Duke, Smith, Wellesley n Bryn Mawr. My safeties are in Canada n UK. I have my preferences sorted out in 3 tiers. Uchicago is certainly in the top 1. Best of luck to you too. I hope all goes well and ends up well too. Which schools have u applied to? Could u please share your stats (if you don;t mind)?

Chicago was a close second to my long-time top choice (Columbia) but after being rejected from CU ED and being deferred from UofC EA, it’s now at the top of my list.

I’m not going to list all my schools though. I’m waiting on 19 decisions over the next two weeks.

must…releease…tension…AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGHHHH!!!

^^may i just say that that sounds EXTREMELY cool? I’m so jealous! I wish my school had Model UN. Or would even consider sending its students overseas for a trip like that. wayyyyyy coool. just enjoy yourself and have fun. what happens happens ;-)

Wow! Even happy Buddhas are tense XD

@Maheen- CDT stands for Central Daylight Time. When it is 10pm CDT, it is 11pm Eastern time in New York.

Maheen- Its gonna be 8:30 in India, guess you know the time difference from your neighbours :P

its gonna be 8PM here in Cali. Yay-yuh! We’re all getting our stuff at the same time but somehow it feels earlier here since I guess I don’t have to stay up till 11 or so.

Actually I don’t think we’ll all get our decisions at the same time. I remember the admissions office trying to pull some stunt about releasing decisions by time zone during the EA round. Even now all they’ve officially said is that they’re releasing decisions after 10PM CDT. That’s open to interpretation.

releasing decisions by time zone? From what I remember during EA round, Acceptances are sent first, then deferrals, then rejections.
Though officially speaking they release by time zone; I think they did release by results (acceptances, deferrals and rejections)

It should be the other way round :stuck_out_tongue:
From rejections to acceptances!

it’s March 20 12:20am in my time zone and my application status isn’t out yet… Do they really release by timezone?

Bah, I’m pretty sure that my deferral basically means a rejection now; my app wasn’t strong enough to get in with a ~30% admit rate. What chance do I have in 10%?

Sent in an answer to the “Favorite Things” question, some good midyear grades, and a couple of awards I won…hopefully that’s enough.

Honestly, back in December—
I don’t think the office intended to put the decisions out in that order, in fact i think it might have been some sort of glitch.

Keep in mind that UChicago has a new head of admissions this year so it’s gonna a be a bit of a toss up.
