Decisions to be released 12/15

Yes its true. December 15th. Another 4 weeks

How do you know? Is it going to start on Dec 15th or are all EA applicants going to find out that day???

Will this “prediction” be as accurate as the last?

I called yesterday and they said 12/15

Did you speak with an admissions counselor, or a work study student who happened to pick up the phone?

I think that is true too (dec.15th date). My app. status is really messed up bc of a problem with the commonapp online at my school so I don’t know if I’ll qualify for EA. When I called, discussed etc. it was made clear that they will send out emails letting us know if we qualify for EA. Then, there will be a process to sort out disputes over consideration for EA. Then they will begin reviewing files. Then decisions will finally come out but not for a while. Dec. 15th seems very believable after what I heard. Anything before that date would surprise me.

viggy,
“sort out disputes…Then they will BEGIN reviewing files…” let’s sure hope that they’ve been doing SOMETHING with those files for the past 2 months…there’s no way they can BEGIN and get decisions out within 2 weeks…imagine how many files they have to get through…i’m sure there are already at least some organized piles of accept, borderline, defer, deny

^ I agree… there is no way admissions can start reviewing applications only after settling EA issues. Other threads have thrown around some huge (some crazy!) estimates on the number of EA applications received this fall at U of M. The admissions area of the web site indicates decisions will start going out in December. I don’t doubt that someone in the admissions office threw out the date Dec. 15, but that may have been done to keep expectations low. I am still hoping a number of applicants will be pleasantly surprised early in December…

I spoke with an alumni who doesn’t work there full timE

So much for early November… What a joke.

they must have SO many applications. i cant wait til that day

on collegeboard it says that the deadline for Michigan to release decisions is 12/25. Happy christmas everyone

Where does Michigan say they will start to release admission decisions in early November? Do you know of any school that releases Early Action decisions in November?

This is clearly stated on the Michigan website for prospective students:
“We will begin reviewing completed applications in late September and we will begin releasing decisions in December.” http://www.admissions.umich.edu/prospective/applying/earlyaction.php

^It initially said November (until like…midway through October), and they changed it to December.

From what I can tell, for an incredibly strong academic institution Michigan has a few problems with basic alphabetics. Their “EA” application process is thus far providing nothing resembling “A” and it certainly can’t be considered “E”. D1 applied to 6 schools with EA-type deadlines. As of today she has 5 acceptance letters, 3 Honors invites, and 3 scholarship offers. And thus far from her home state flagship school…insert crickets chirping here.

They initially listed first releases in November (similiar message as previous years) but I think they changed it sometime in September. I spoke with an admissions director around end of September and I was told that decisions would start coming out in early December.

This is interesting. Most of the selective schools I know release EA results around Dec 15. Would you care to tell us which schools your daughter has been admitted to already?

yeahhh i havent received any results from any school I applied EA. December is gunna be an exciting month.

GoBlue81…Don’t get me wrong, I don’t fault Michigan for their admissions process nor do I claim to know what EA really means to each school. All we know is our own experience with D1’s apps (first college child BTW). It was surprising to us that while many schools set deadlines for EA consideration, priority scholarship consideration, etc. that there is such a wide variance in response time. Michigan has earned it’s reputation and has the right to take as long as it wants to offer admissions. It is what it is. In D1’s case, she’s thus far been admitted to U of Minnesota, Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama, and Ferris State. Good Luck to all, and we’ll be waiting to hear along with you!!

where will i see the decision? email or the wolverine access portal?

I’m not sure why they told all the students who visited during the summer that they would receive decisions begining in EARLY NOVEMBER. It’s kind of odd that a school is flip-flopping on its release decision.
