i'm with you nkay

i just called the admissions office and they said they were sending out at the end of next week. i emailed ted o'neill and he said i should hear by april 1st.

Since April 1st is, in fact, the end of next week, I don't see how the admissions office could send the decisions out at the end of next week and notify you by April 1st. I don't see any reason why they'd change their usual policy (according to Keelee, that's sending them out around the 25th), or why they'd feel compelled to give you a straight answer.

It would make sense to send decisions out so that they cross a sunday because I believe the mail still moves on sunday, it just isnt delivered. That way the decisions would be more likely to come on the same day for everyone.

I received two big envelopes today and I was excited as heck. It turned out they were from the company my brother works for so I said some profanities.

if i'm not mistaken their policy is that the letters will arrive before the Ivies notify students. The Ivies are online 3/31, so therefore Chitown must arrive then. Considering that there are students from across the country, I surmise the letters have already been sent out.

I live in the Hyde Park neighborhood. There was mail delivery today, but nothing from UChicago. Of course, mail delivery is slow in Hyde Park.

This may sound like a stupid question, but what does URM stand for?

underrepresented minorities: blacks, hispanics, native of americans

oh, okay. thanks

Last year, my D found out on March 27, Saturday. It was a pleasant surprise.

j10cpc5000, i received two big envelopes as well. the mailman handed them to me along with a package that I had to sign for, and as he was giving me the forms to sign, I kept staring at the envelopes, heart pounding.... and then I saw that they were both for my parents.

agh. i just want to get all my letters already; this stress is annoying me.

if and when they do send it out on March 25, that would mean that we should all receive the letters by Monday the 28th. Everybody agree? although the answer may be obvious i'm just very anxious after reading all your posts.. ah!

striker,

We found the USPS could take up to 5 days to deliver first class mail in this here neck o' the woods. I guess Boston is pretty isolated...

they don't send it out till later... the lady in the admissions office said BY april 1st (it will be mailed)
.... so it could be some time early april.. until we hear..

does chicago do online decisions too?

No, they don't.

And it really does look like there's more evidence that the decisions are in the mail right now. So far, we have: the fact that a CC member saw the envelopes ready to go, the fact that the highly knowledgeable Keelee thinks Chicago wants to beat the Ivies this year, and the fact that last year's Chicago students got their letters at around this time. Versus: some comment an admissions person made so that we would all stop calling her.

I'm just sayin'.

what do u mean a CC member saw the envelopes ready to go..
where when???

"I visited on Monday and they were preparing acceptance/rejection letters, so assumably it's going by snail mail."

For EA admits, when are the financial aid and merit aid notifications coming? Same day as RD decisions?

Mail has arrived on Saturday at home in Hyde Park, Chicago. No letter from UChicago.
