So when do admission decisions arrive?

My daughter was accepted today via mail. She did early application before 11/01/10.

What state are you in?

We are from the San Diego area of California…

I heard they mail the decisions out on Dec 24, so everyone should hear soon! Please post your stats.

Just got accepted via mail today!! From MA. Good luck everyone

Becca: we are headed to MA next month. My daughter was accepted to Emerson too. She is very interested in both for obviously different reasons…

S got acceptance letter today. We’re in SoCal.

My son got his acceptance today - we are also in SoCal

Have you SoCal people visited yet? We are going next month. It looks like a great choice for a So Cal student who wants to go out of state. My daughter was also accepted to a couple of back east schools to which we are visiting in January. Brrrrrrr…

My son applied Early Action and the letter he received has deferred him to Regular Decision. His stats are in the lower range of the middle 50% but he has a lot of AP/Honors classes and good ECs. At his Hyde interview, the admissions person mentioned that applications were up quite a bit this year.

He had declared himself a business major and that is the most popular major. I have met with the biz school dean a couple of times at alumni functions and know that they are trying to reduce the size of the undergrad biz school. That’s why they came up with a secondary application.

Congrats to those who have been accepted. DU is a great school. My son has already been accepted at 4 other schools and we are still in the running for DU. Of the schools we visited, I thought DU put on the best tour.

We are from SoCal and will encourage our S to visit DU bec. of DU’s excellent reputation. Tho’ right now his preferred location are schools in NY and Boston. So far he’s also considering Fordham, Northeastern U and possibly Bentley and Villanova. He wants to major in finance.

KeeterMom: Emerson is a great school! I have a lot of friends who applied there. Right in the heart of the theatre district in Boston. Have you visited yet?

Good luck to all who are still waiting to hear from DU ! It’s a fantastic school in a great city.

Becca,

We are visiting Emerson and Drexel the end of January. My daughter wants to be sure she can handle the winters back east! You got into USD as well, correct? My daughter did too and we are from the area, so please let me know if you have any questions!

I went to DU for my BA and later for a masters. I just kind of wandered over here out of boredom (had no idea this site existed, to be honest).

It’s a decent school overall–DU has some strengths, as well as some pretty glaring weaknesses. Looking back, I have mixed feelings about going there. Were I to do it all over again, I probably would have picked another college, but it wasn’t a negative experience.

Congrats to those who choose it. If anyone has questions, feel free to send them over.

Emerson, Drexel, and DU? That’s kind of a curious assortment.

I’d probably give the nod to DU if it were just between those three. Possibly Emerson depending upon the student’s interest. Definitely NOT Drexel.

Chris78, can you elaborate? What was your major? What did you consider were DU’s strengths and weaknesses?

Thank you for your help.

Chris 78:

Actually my daughter has gotten into DU, USD ,Baylor, Emerson, Drexel, and University Of Montana! Very diverse…My daughter wants to major in Communications, but has been an equestrian for 11 years and an actress/singer for 8 years. She wants to explore her options to keep some of her extracurriculars. She would like the option to leave California for college. She is casting a “wide net”…

My son applied to a ton of schools, I threw DU into the mix because he liked UCB and Colorado State. I liked the idea that it had the “mountain thing” but a more urban campus? He didn’t bother with a Hyde Interview, so I feel for any kid who was deferred who actually interviewed, especially if they’re in the middle 50% range! Our great family friend went there, graduated in 1980ish, and he actually told my son (who’s in Boulder) that if he would have preferred to attend UCB. SInce it’s right in town gonna have Son check it out when he returns to Colorado to REVISIT the other two.
