Decisions?

did anyone receive a letter today? I did not and I am from NY. Were rejections sent out at the same time as acceptances?

We are from the Albany, NY area (about 100 miles from HC) and we have nothing yet. Good luck!

My daughter received her letter today. She won’t be home for three more hours!

She actually let you check the mailbox? I’m not allowed to go anywhere near it this week :)

Ok, I understand the fact the colleges like to stick to old fashioned snail mail

But e-mail notifications are just soooooo much better for both admissions and apllicants…

^How thick, or large is the letter?

Regarding email vs. snail mail notifications - email is great except when a mistake is made and mistaken offers of admission / or denial are sent out, like what happened to Vassar applicants earlier this year.

I got my waitlist letter today. It is a small envelope but very thick.

have not heard here in ny…ughhh this is really getting annoying now…
BU which had 44,000 applicants got their decisions mailed back already!!!
not sure how many applicants holy cross has but probably only 1/4 of that!!

Waitlisted/devastated: 740 writing, 720 CR, 690 math. Weighted GPA 4.24. NHS, National French HS, National Math HS, National Science HS, peer connection, literary magazine editor, 5 APs, early college calculus as junior, drama club, presented at NOAA conference on DNA sequencing. Catholic girls school in Connecticut. Interviewed with admissions counselor, shadowed student and visited three times.

CollegeBound228,
Would you care to share your stats?
My son received his letter today and he too was waitlisted.
I am al little surprised to hear that if you come off the waitlist and gain admission, you will not receive any aid.
We loved HC but things are not looking to good right now.
Wishing you the best.

ctstudent (and lucky mom2) -

Please do not be disheartened. My daughter, who has stats similar to ctstudent, was rejected - not wait-listed, but flat-out rejected - from a school that should have been a safety. She too was devastated and questioning her choices. A few days later, she was accepted into a school she was quite interested in but was sure would not admit her. As I later learned, the first school’s decision was based on demographics: there were too many applicants who fit her profile at that school in this year. It had nothing to do with her as a person or applicant; she was, in fact, considered to be fully qualified.

Everything happens for a reason. There is probably something good waiting for you just around the corner, so keep your chin up and move ahead. What is meant to be will be, whether that is getting off the waitlist or going to another institution which you may find you love.

Good luck to you! You sound like a very impressive young woman.

P.S. My daughter did not receive her letter today as our post is often delayed. She will be wild this evening!

Westiemom1,
Thank you so very much for the prompt reply and words of encouragement.
I,too have told my son exactly the same thing. Everything happens for the best and for a reason. We are hopeful to find the big envelope in the mail soon.
Thanks again for the true words of wisdom.
Your feedback was greatly appreciated.

I got wait-listed from Hobart today! So, I understand what you guys are going through. I have a 3.4, so not that hopefully about HC. I live in Georgia, so haven’t got my decision today. Good luck for everyone still waiting. Hugs for everyone else! :)

everyone who is hearing back, can you please post stats if possible. thank you!

I got in today and im from NJ. I have a 3.4 unweighted 2 varsity sports a few awards 1 AP and 3 honors (my school doesn’t supply many), VP of a christian club (in a non religious private school). Hope nothing but the best for all! Keep your heads up, I got rejected from BC yesterday so ahaha everything happens for a reason.

My daughter has been waitlisted at Holy Cross, Bates and Mount Holyoke. We are still waiting for 3 other schools. She’s been accepted by 2 and rejected by 2. But I am very worried about financial aid for her waitlist schools. Are we just out of luck?

My son was waitlisted today and is also devastated. 3.6 2040 SAT 32 ACT 2 sports, Eagle Scout, Jesuit and Alumni connections but no immediate family, 12 College credits, Community service. Unfortunately from neighboring state-too close to add to the geographic diversity HC is looking for? Waitlist is an effective rejection because of no FA even if taken from waitlist. Waiting for God to open that window!

i got in today!!! :)

good luck to everyone!

oh boy…after reading all of this…wow…i am definitely not going to get in…probably lucky if i get waitlisted…
