sorry to hear about everyone who was rejected/waitlisted…i probably will too but we shall see…This is something that i was told by my counselor, it’s not that you’re not right for the school, it’s that the school is just not right for you…in other words, yes it was meant to happen and better things will come out of it. keep your head up, its just a school and you will make the right choice at the end of the day. That being said, I just want to wish everyone good luck, whether or not you get in, because you are all wonderful people and deserve the most fitting education for yourself and will get the most fitting education for yourself, whether or not you attend HC. There are many more prestigious fishes in the sea!
Also, i just have a question, is anyone who was waitlisted/rejected related to an alum that is attending or graduation from HC! Thanks and good luck everyone else!

My D was just accepted. Her grandfather is an alum. Don’t know if that makes a difference. They didn’t even ask that on the application but she wrote about it in a separate essay.

Good luck to everyone. I know it’s hard when you don’t get accepted to the school of your choice. Sometimes it’s just the stats. They might have too many kids from a particular state or whatever.

I had to pick a scholarship winner once and it was very hard because everyone looks the same on paper. I chose the ones who overcame a handicap or disability and/or who focused on one or two particular areas with depth as opposed to having a million EC’s.

Her stats area:

Top 4% of class 16/427
CR760 CW760 M710
SAT II’s History 750
math II 700
Varsity soccer for 4 years
Badminton and track
tons of Ec’s like everyone else
AP scholar with distinction

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

tab0987 - Thanks for a encouraging words. ANY college will be happy have you. You’ve got the right attitude.

My son is much better today but it is SO hard to watch your child hurting not be able to do anything for them. Good Luck to all.

tab0987,
You sound wise beyond your years and I echo the sentiment of shamrockmom who said that any college will be happy to have you. You do have a great attitude.
All the best to you.
shamrockmom, I am in the same shoes as you and agree that this has been torture.
I am just curious as to where you might be from. My son was waitlisted also with great stats and an interview that went very well. No alumni connections though and not from a catholic high school , I am not sure if this hurt him much. He was actually feeling pretty good about it until yesterday.
The aid thing baffles me as well… I am not sure why if you are lucky enough to come off the waitlist you are not eligible for any aid.
Wishing you and everyone the very best in this crazy process.
luckymom2:)

same thing happened to my daughter last year, but she is VERY happy at Villanova now. She
was quite qualified and interviewed and that was her first choice, out of all the kids accepted
at her school she was the only one who would have went and they waitlisted her… didn’t make sense. But…she is very happy now, and you will DEFINATELY find your place

has anyone received an outright rejection letter yet? do they go out at the same time as acceptances?

Accepted , waiting on FA

I got wait-listed. Wait-listed students cannot get FA, so won’t be going. Good luck everyone!

did u both receive your letters today?

RichieRich24,
My son was waitlisted also and it was included in the letter that he would not receive any aid if he came off the list and ddecided to go.
Good luck to you1
luckymom2:)

I got my letter today and I live in Georgia. I guess only rich wait-listed candidates will be going to Holy Cross. Good for them!

I am nervous about my chances now. I live in NY and have not heard.
30 ACT
101.5 GPA
leadership in ECs
Rank: 3/575
I even visited the campus and toured this summer so i showed interest. I fear a rejection letter since I have yet to hear back

Haven’t heard anything from Holy Cross yet here in CT…

Im in RI and kids at school have heard but I still have nothing. Is this bad?

I’ll take your word for it @luckymom2…even though I find it really odd that you don’t get financial aid if you come off the waitlist…that does not seem to make sense to me…that’s really too bad…
and have not heard back here in ny and @mathsci94, have the kids who have heard at your school been accepted, rejected, or waitlisted

stats? and btw^ did everyone in your school get in? Any wait listed, rejected?

Most of the kids got waitlisted. At least one got in and one may have been rejected.

i saw on the Holy Cross admissions page on Facebook that the commented that all decision were mailed at the same time and that a delay has no bearing/indication on the result.

that they commented that all decisions*

Accepted! I’m going to use the thing I used for another college in this forum…
