decisions

Got in~~yeah ..yeah...

Congrats Sophy!

Now go there and ask them why the beep they haven't accepted me?

i still haven't gotten an e-mail.
has anyone else gotten a rejection e-mail?!?!

Nothing still... I guess I can be glad that I didn't get a rejection email. Perhaps it's just taking a while since someone has to send all the emails individually and sort through the applications. Reed is small enough that that could be the case.

Grats to everyone who has been accepted though.

I still haven't gotten an e-mail

Wait, just want to clarify: If you don't get an email, does that mean you're NOT in, or does it mean it's just late?

GAHH.

Someone should call the admissions office and sort this out... NOT IT :-)

when i called, they confused me. i was told that my decision was coming in the mail and not to expect an email... i really wonder what that means.

): Does it mean that we didn't get in, and rejections are being mailed? Or...they only sent it out to some people who were accepted, like the top few?

...it makes more sense that we got rejected, I think D: Damn.

I don't think it means anything. One of my friends got in ED and never received the email.

I'm just going to wait for mail... IMO it could just mean that they sent the most qualified people emails so they wouldn't decide on a different school. Or, it could mean we were waitlisted, or they just are testing their procedure to see if the fancy powerpoint thing and website actually helps increase admission numbers. Who knows.

I'm an intel who got his rejection through the e-mail...

This sucks.. they sent me an admissions booklet and everything...

jeanatkin... what did the email say?? Is it just me, or is it weird that Reed is sending emails?

i think they wanted to surprise the people who were accepted with an e-mail. and they did. and now the rest of us who received no e-mail are speculating and getting scared. i have no doubt that we were not accepted. i could be wrong, of course, i mean i wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised, but i think this spells rejection (or waitlisting).

@Slwlisuffocating:

My letter:

"I regret to inform you that the Reed College Admission Committee has
decided not to accept your application for fall 2006 admission.

Each year there are many more applicants for admission to Reed than
there are spaces available in the incoming class. This year, in fact, we
received a record 3,052 applications for a freshman class of 345. Our
decision reflects Reed's institutional needs as much, if not more, than it rules negatively on your credentials. Inevitably, a significant number of applicants who might have been good students in our classrooms and contributing members of our community must be turned down to preserve the intimate brand of education for which we are known.

On behalf of the admission committee, let me say that I appreciate the time and effort you have put into the application process, and I wish you the best of luck as you continue your education.

Sincerely,

Paul Marthers
Dean of Admission"

Alrighty, so... in an assumption I'm going to assume they emailed the favored students...just so I can go on believing I may still have a chance ._.

Sorry jeanatkin =(

sorry, i didn't mean to bring down your hopes. i'd rather be cynical and not be disappointed. but i know a lot of people would rather be optimistic so.. don't mind me.

Oh, no, I've got the rejection letter in my head, I am about as cynical as you are right now, but hey, according to logic, if there was a rejection email, and we didn't get it, there is still some hope. (some is a very relative word =x)

oh. but i thought that all intel kids got e-mail decisions

Perhaps they send out decisions a little bit a a time in alphabetical order or something like that. It doesn't really make sence that not having recieved a decision yet means you wern't accepted. In fact I think it almost makes more sence that you would hear that you were rejected before you heard you were accepted since the rejection letters are probably easier to send out being smaller. I haven't gotten a decision yet either so I'm probably just trying to comfort my self but I did get into McGill which is still pretty cool.
