Decisions!

I got ACCEPTED!!! OMG!!! I want to cry I am so happy! Everybody else who got in please contact me! I want to talk to my fellow students, my screen name is kathyLOVESgoo

i got in too, and am equally as excited! congrats! i can't believe i'm/we're actually going! awesomeee

p.s. anyone who gets in, feel free to leave a comment on the most recent post in the livejournal community skidmore_ or join the myspace group skidmore2010. i'd love to get to know all of you!

for anyone who got in, what did your acceptance letter look like? Was it obvious to tell you got in just by looking at the packaging?

well first of all it came in a large (folder-sized) white envelope from admissions, so that was pretty much my first clue. inside was a black folder that said "yes!" on the front, and then it's pretty obvious from there. good luck!

yay! I got in!

It's more like a likely letter...It was an acceptance to the honors forum that said in a couple weeks I'll be getting my actual acceptance letter. I applied Regular Decision.

Did you have to apply to the honors program or were you more selected/invited into it? If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats? Thanks!

Oh, and also what part of the country do you live in? Can you tell I'm getting anxious? Thank you again!

I didn't apply for it, and it seems more like a voluntary program than the designated "honors program" at schools. It's called the "honors forum," and it says anyone who has a 3.4 gpa at the end of 1st semester of college CAN apply for it. After that, anyone can. It doesn't look like it has any monetary benefit (like state schools do).

I live in New York, about 4 1/2 to 5 hours west of Skidmore. My stats are not very impressive: 1880 on the new SAT, crappy 8 on the essay (my writing style scores terribly on standardized testing, but it has personality, so it's good for college essays), 31 Composite on the ACT (crappy 8 on the essay again), 3.98 gpa (weighted...however, consistent improvement each year, and mid-year report well over 4.0), top 10%, and not many EC's at all (captain of one sports team, secretary of two clubs).

Hey CME:

we are pretty much in the same boat. I got an 1880 on Sats and an 8 on my essay. 620 and 610 on satII's. My EC's are kinda like yours - president of a club and member of theatre club etc plus some outsite school stuff. i have a 3.8 Weighted. Eh i hope i get in. Congrats.

What'd you apply for Linnea? I think you have extremely good chances with your gpa, which is well above the Skidmore average. If you took some tough courses in high school, you're set.

I'm crossing my fingers for you, but I have a pretty good feeling you're safe!

I got in to the Honors Forum also. I got the letter yesterday.

I applied as a Theatre Major but got deffered from EDII so i dunno what to think. What about u?

i was also deferred, is it true that the people who get deferred are looked upon more favorably than the people who applied regular decision?

I've heard that if it comes down to you and another equally qualified person who did not apply early, they would pick the person applied early because they know that you really want to go there and are likely to matriculate.

if you got deffered or accepted where are u from?

I was deferred from ED II and i'm from MA.

so when should we expect decisions for regular decision? if we don't get anything from the honors thing? a week? i live in virginia, and i don't know anyone else who applied to skidmore.

they shouldn't come any later that april 1st

the letter said decisions are mailed on the 24th :)

Financial aid info comes with decisions, right?

Linnea,
I applied for biology, but I have a pretty good feeling I'll end up changing my mind (to what I'm not sure, most likely some other science)
