DD was waitlisted today - was a sure match - but looks like the competition was great this year. She got into better schools so she won't be staying on the list.

3.5 uw mostly AP sat 660 v 640m Thought I was solid.

I've apparently been invited to spend a semester in London... or be waitlisted. Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh, and my "stats" for anyone who has demanded them... GPA: No clue. Reading: 740 Writing: 710 Math: 540, Biotches!!!!!!!

And some other stuff.

Anyone?

that is weird! what is that supposed to mean?

Yeah, I thought I was in for sure too..
3.76 uw GPA
31 ACT, 12 on the essay portion
This was the first school I've heard from and was one of my safeties. I'm really nervous now.

Yeah I got the london option too, I went ahead and checked the both option

It's their first-semester study abroad program. It's in its fifth year, and apparently they invite 36 students to attend with some faculty.

It's exciting, to say the least, but unexpected... Anyone else?

So if we accept the London option, then we're in, right? I don't know if we're technically "waitlisted." If we accept, they let us go... that's how it appears. If not, then they immediately look for another student to join the 36.

Fishy. Perhaps we'll see each other, lol.

The response card asks whether you would consider a first semester in London or be placed on the waiting list. I don't think it means you can definitely start in London - they just want to know if you would. They may be able to accept you if you will start with a semester abroad - but others will check that option off too.

Do they send this to everyone or only a few...?

I think they sent it to everyone they waitlisted

They send that card to everyone placed on the waiting list.

. . .

lol, it was a big packet, not a card... it had financial aid info... and a whole lot of stuff... and a hand-written statement by the dean of admissions saying why they picked me.... are we discussing the same thing?

The packet was black, 8-11", and said "London!" on the front in colorful letters...

Has anyone gotten this?

I already wrote earlier that I was accepted.
My Stats:
GPA: 3.9
Rank: 11/179
SATs: 1990
SAT IIs: quite bad...I won't post them
All AP/honors courses
essay: decent
recs: EXCELLENT
ECs: several, I won't list them because I doubt anyone will read them...

Travelgirl -

Don't be nervous that Skidmore was a safety and that you didn't get in. My daughter was waitlisted today, and she has already gotten into three top LACs. She said to me when she opened the Skidmore letter, "It's a good thing this isn't my first letter, or I'd be scared to death."

Skidmore is just sending a message that it doesn't want to be a safety. They admitted some fine students with incredible scores (see some of the honors stats), but they probably also selected a majority of students who were better fits.

My daughter expected Skidmore to reject her when she didn't receive an invitation to Skidmore honors because she certainly qualified for it.

I got an acceptance to the honors forum, but I was also accepted to Amherst and Williams, so I doubt I'll be going.

Yeah, I'm not trying to brag or anything. It does seem I'm (conditionally) accepted... this is more than a card.

But prior to today I'd been rejected by Colorado College (safety) Colby (reach) and TCNJ (prestigious but nonetheless crumby state school), and was really starting to bite the skin off my nails. So don't worry, I'm sure things will work out.

That's in response to the post two spots above... not one, heh. Congrats.

rejected! sad... but it's okay cause it made the decision to go to Brandeis a whole lot easier. :)
CONGRATS TO ALL!
i swere to god you are gonna have the funnest time of ur life there its so chill

Thanks for the condolences guys, hopefully tomorrow will go better.

congrats to everyone who got in! can't wait to see you all next year :)
