Decisions

@AMothersLove … I hope they’re on track… Decisions can’t come soon enough! :)

My daughter auditioned at Unifieds in Chicago. They didn’t ask her to dance, which she is taking as a bad sign.

@AMothersLove … I hope they’re on track… Decisions can’t come soon enough! :)

Last year’s calls came on the 13th (late afternoon).
I don’t know if kksmom’s D has heard anything…she’s the one who gave us the heads-up last year that decisions were imminent. I asked my son last night if he knew when the class was being chosen and he cheerfully admitted he had no idea… so the suspense continues!

Keep us updated @Times3!!

I will, as much as I can! The “Earnest” production opens tomorrow night, and he’s in it (small part)–also has a ton of homework–so I have to pry info out of him when I get the chance.

My prediction…they will call sometime between their two weekend shows(this weekend and next).

I messaged my daughter and hasn’t heard anything. Sorry :confused:

Thank you @kksmom5! :)

@MTMajorCook… we didn’t get to do the on campus audition so she didn’t get to be part of the dance call as they did not have one at Unifieds. The dance person on the team commented on her video and told her she had “beautiful feet” and position so I am hoping that is good. Hate that we did not get to have her actually dance for them. Thanks for the info!!!

@Times3 tell your son to break a leg!

Thanks, @NAtlantaStudio–they have put some little interviews with kids in the cast on the Otterbein Theatre and Dance facebook page, so he was excited about that this morning and thinks that opening night will go well. Wish I could be there, but I’ll see the last two shows next weekend. :)

Awwww I will have to go check it out. Only one of the schools my daughter is looking at is close enough to be able to make shows easily…that is something I am not looking forward to!! I know you will love seeing him next weekend!

BAL to your son Times3!!!

The costumes look great we looked at the pictures last night! BAL!!

For those interested in the look of things, and since Otterbein is very strict about no performances on youtube, you can search a site named Montage Stills on facebook. You can go to photos, and then, albums. It has some great shots of the recent festival work by the students and also the fall shows including Les Mis. I’m sure Earnest will be up there shortly. Of course, I won’t be telling my son I gave you this heads up as there’s a dance shot of him from festival that is not a favorite representation of his. Shhhh!

Loved the pics! :)

How nice is that theatre ab? I hear it is great, we didn’t tour while we were there. S doesn’t want to fall in love with any place until after the decision, he learned the hard way with BW. So for the rest of the audition we were like ninjas…in and out of there lol

Yes, I understand completely about not falling in love. Our oldest son’s first notice from a school was a rejection. We received it as soon as we returned home from his Ithaca audition in November. It was from Baldwin Wallace. It was his only rejection, but very difficult! The main theatre in Cowan is beautiful, very comfortable, with excellent sight lines and acoustics. The pit, where festival was held, is a smaller, black box type and great for intimate settings. Some productions are held there depending on the type, i.e Wild Party. I didn’t see that show, but heard it was excellent and profoundly “up close and personal.” I think the kids do their auditions in the pit. Riley auditorium is also an excellent space with wonderful acoustics. Everything I’ve seen there has been with no microphones and perfect. For dance oriented kids, all dance studios are sprung, sparing the joints a bit. Stages are not, but for dance concert they put down Marley? I will say we’ve been in many theatres from UMich to Muhlenberg ( excellent facilities, by the way) and Otterbein is artistically/technically a match for the best. Theirs might not look as grand as some, but I have never been disappointed as an audience member in any Otterbein theatre.

******Finally, I have it from a very credible source that calls offering spots to the Class of 2018 will be happening most likely on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Best wishes to you all and enjoy your weekend!

@abparent - thanks for the heads up. I don’t know how much more my nerves can take. 8-}
