KT4321. Speaking as a Dad, tell your Dad instead of dwelling on it/worrying about it. Odds are he is anxious to hear and will be supportive. Move on right away to your other alternatives AND be sure to let Davidson know how important it is to you and that you are still dying to go there.

KT, it does look like they took 40 students off the waitlist last year.

KT my best friend got waitlisted last year, and sent a letter telling davidson it was his first choice, and updating them on his recent accomplishments. our guidance counselor also called to let them know it was his first choice. he ended up getting in, and loves the school now!

even so, i'm sure your other schools are great- you should look into them and get excited about other schools too. everyone i've ever met who didnt get into their first choice found another school they liked even better!

Accepted .

im in hoes!!! they are big on character/personal qualities stuff so it could be wise for those waitlisted to convince the admit office what great kids they are!! honestly i think the only thing that got me in was being an eagle scout, which fits right in with their honor system hoopla.

My son got in. Stats I recall are SAT verbal 800, math 740, writing 720, SAT II US History 780, GPA 3.7 unweighted, 5 AP's. He was also a varsity athlete in two sports, a team captain, an All-State musician and won $1000 in an economics essay contest. He's waiting to find out whether he gets any merit scholarships from Davidson and/or his other top choices. Congratulations to all acceptees! It was a nerve-wracking wait.

accepted!:) yay! congrats, everyone! i'm very excited for scholar's weekend/decision davidson in a couple of weeks!

im in fools! All you waitlist ppl will be happy to hear that if Davidson doesnt come through with some major cash, ill be at uf

Daughter has good numbers -- Principal's List, NM commendation, 2200 SAT's, SAT II's in 700's, AP's, sports, music, etc.

But, she was deferred at another school where 24 percent are accepted. According to my 2-year old book -- Davidson accepted 34 percent -- I am sure the number has decreased. And, judging by the numbers of those accepted, the average numbers (grade point and SAT) have grown.

My one word of advice to those who were wait listed, write early and often. If you really want this school, nothing displays that emotion better than your begging, groveling, and knee bending where you plea for their acceptance.

Suck in some pride and beg and grovel. Start today. And, have the counselor and anyone else who can help you do the same -- IF THIS IS THE SCHOOL OF YOUR CHOICE.

They will listen, and you will probably see dividends from your efforts.

Davidson was down into the mid 20% range last year and the year before. Congratulations to all who were accepted and best wishes to those of you who were waitlisted. And joethemonkey, you need to learn some humility--even in youthspeak, that's not the way to talk to people who didn't get the good news you did:)

For a list of acceptance rates go to

Once you read this, you know not to trust 2-year books regarding college admissions as the admissions process changes as dramatically and quickly as computer software.

waitlisted! actually i'm not too upset. I was really expecting a rejection!

DD was rejected. It was not a surprise as Davidson was quite a reach for her. Now on to making choices from the places where she DID get accepted.
