@rks7791 What major if you don’t mind me asking?

@rks7791 wow really? That sucks, good luck with your other schools

Has anyone gotten rejected?

@texas25 a bunch of my friends got rejected yesterday

I have another question. My friend from California told me that his counselor said that when you apply to a university you compete against other people from your school who applied there too. Does this also apply to Ohio state? Like do you mainly go against other students from your school?

Still in evaluation status. 30 act, 4.0, top 10%, engineering. Not sure if that’s a good sign or not with the recent wave of deferrals.

My daughter was accepted November 19th for engineering. My other daughter is a third year already at OSU studying biochemistry. She was also accepted as a first year and loves, loves, loves the campus and Columbus. Congrats to all those accepted! My daughter who was just accepted, I will do her stats as best as I can:

Applied Early Action on October 16, 2014.
Top 10% class rank (currently 8 of 150+)
4.05 GPA weighted (I think) 4.0 UW (got straight A’s all through HS). Not sure how this weight thing works. AP classes include English Comp, Pre Calc and Calc, and Honors Chemistry.
27 ACT
State placer in track and field. Ran at Jesse Owens stadium at OSU 2 years in a row and placed in 3 events her junior year. Named Academic All Ohio and All Ohio. Artistic abilities which won her various awards at several county art shows. Red Cross blood donor.

Figured I’d chime in in this thread. I got accepted a few days before Thanksgiving and applied mid October. I got into the College of Engineering for Mechanical Engineering. In State, 33 ACT, 4.29 W GPA, top 2%.

Congrats to everyone else admitted, and good luck to those of you waiting to hear back or are under further review later in the winter!

Still under evaluation. application date is 10/30/14. EA.

@texas25 I had 3 friends rejected (well, deferred to another campus because in-state) on Saturday. One had 3.7 with 1800. Not sure the others, though. We all come from a top private school in the state.

@cl3v3land And do you happen to know of anyone else from your school who applied and got accepted? Or was it just them?

@texas25 I know many people applied, but I don’t know of anyone who was accepted in this round of decisions, just in the one that was released closer to Thanksgiving.

Checked buckeyelink and I was admitted (Woo!). Submitted 10/30 EA. Such a relief and good luck to everyone, hopefully you guys hear back soon!

I’m honestly surprised with some of the deferrals we’re seeing on this board with people with 30ACT scores. We live in the Columbus area and common thinking the past several years is that people with a 28 typically are accepted to the main campus. D applied on Sept. 20 and has not yet heard and her stats would put her well within the acceptance range according to the type of students from her high school who have been accepted to the main campus over the past few years.

Accepted (App submitted 10/28)

SAT: 2390 (800M 800CR 790W)
GPA: 4.46 w
10 APs
leadership, continuity in ECs, etc.

Just checked today. Good luck to everyone else!

my son was also deferred… he got a 31 on his ACT and GPA is only 3.3… He is a 4 year letter winner in soccer and
will earn his 3rd year letter in basketball this winter. Captain in both sports-He is in National Honor Society, president of his Bio club, student council… I just wonder if anyone knows what the chances are that he will be accepted (GPA low bc he messed up his freshman year… he has earned over a 4. for the last year and also this year so far as well). He has 3 AP classes, and has taken two college classes …

Do you know if most deferrals become accepted?
