Decisions

wow this is a first. usually when i get on this site there are so many posts on decisions and what not..guess i'm the first. i applied regular decision, i live in Houston, TX, and i was waitlisted. guess i'll just continue waiting!

H-town. Rejected.

Waitlisted. From Houston.

Does anyone know how many students are usually waitlisted?

did you get your decision in the mail (RD)?

can you guys post your stats? Thanks.

Son deferred ED, now REJECTED RD. Waiting to hear from Notre Dame. Top 2% of his class.

1500, 780/800/770, #11/500, Good AP scores
Decent ECs: Soccer, a few leadership positions, some engineering related stuff, interesting travel experiences

Rice's RD admission rate:

[quote]
Number of regular decision applicants: 4,120
Number accepted: 708*** (17%)

This rate is significantly lower than that of ED and ID, both of which are 28%; there are going many qualified applicants who will be rejected or waitlisted. I am not surprised, though it is heart-breaking to see some very good students bite the dust. I can only imagine that this year's admission's rate for RD was even tougher due to the record-high influx of applicants.

I live in H-Town and I just opened my package. I am in baby! Sorry for everyone who was wailisted/rejected.
If anyone is wondering, they sent it out yesterday by priority mail, so everyone should get an envelope by Saturday.
Good Luck to you all!

congrats gabe and my condolences to those who weren't accepted/waitlisted.

Ya know I noticed a lot of people call houston H-Town. We Alabamians (at least some folks in Birmingham) call Alabama A-town, which don't make much sense but I think it's kinda funny

accepted n suprised @ the fact it got here this early...was expecting an answer on fri! tripped out n excited!

congrats to all acceptees, n hang on others!
btw...i live in h-town

you guys got your decision already? Where - did you check online or did you receive a letter because i checked my app. status and it says that my application is being reviewed for regular action or some crap like that... anyone know?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone in the Houston area got theirs today.

Well, I applied ED and was deferred, now waitlisted. I've been waiting for three months, I 'spose I can wait for another 2-3. I sent in extra materials to update my file in February. I got straight-A's and made my Eagle Scout. Rank 21 out of 1151. I thought for sure I'd make the cut this time around. I just don't know what else I have to do for this school.... I guess it's time to update my file again.

Now there's nothing else for me to do but pay the $200 to UT and accept Plan II's offer.

The little one page rejection letter came in the mailbox today.

i cant wait to get, open, and read my first rejection letter...dartmouths rejection will be online...

Tomorrow, Tomorrow. I love you tomorrow.

You're Only a Day Away......

tookie... wht were ur sons stats like? and i presume ur from H-town too?

1360 SAT, obviously too low for Rice, varsity State champ sport, Eagle Scout, yes H-town. He's getting excited about going out of state now - accepted at his safety and waiting for another reach school. I think going out of state will be a good experience, so I think it will all work out for the best.

Good luck to all the RD's who are still waiting...
