Decisions??

Kis: So sorry this upset you...As a parent, I know how stressful this whole waiting game can be (try a 6 month wait for some schools)....

Anyway, this is a very common practice among selective schools...If you look at many of the threads for other CC top schools, you will see that most of them have either made phone calls, sent "likely"letters, or invited select students to special weekends...all in advance of everyone else hearing about their admissions; while the "rest of us wait patiently".....

I do wholeheartedly agree that it is extremely irritating, but unfortunately it has become a fact of college admissions in the 21st century......

MBJ...why didn't your S notify them after his ED acceptance? Good thing they called early..he was taking up someone's spot!

Thanks for your empathy. I know that other schools do it as well. But if you call the admissions office, and wait through that very long taped message, you will hear that Delaware does not post decisions on line, nor give out decisions over the phone. Obviously this is not their practice. I just don't like hypocritical things. If they do it, then just don't specifically say that you don't. If you ask the admissions office, they say that individual depts. may give out the info, but it does not come from the admissions office. Is that supposed to make it any better! How about all those undecided kids who haven't interviewed with someone from a specific dept.? Why should they be at a disadvantage? I still say, it's just not right!!

I agree! I feel like we have been waiting FOREVER! This is my daughter's 1st choice school, and I am beginning to get nervous after reading the article about record out of state applications. A friend of hers received "The Phone Call" as well. I just dont understand! Hopefully that wont make a difference.

tedrco: Last year, my daughter received her merit scholarship offer with her acceptance package.

Good luck to everyone awaiting decisions.

I'd place no downside whatsoever on NOT receiving a phone call. The vast, vast majority of students who'll enroll have heard nothing. Do not sweat that one. UD is really lousy at proactive communication with prospects. We've been waiting for an answer to a fairly benign question following 2 letters, 3 emails, 3 phone calls, and 3 online chats with admissions officers. But such is life in the megaU's. No sense bellyaching, or one will have an ulcer at that end of 4 years. Persistance wins the day, mostly.

I agree that UD has been really slow on communication, but seeing as they've answered a couple of my e-mails within a few days time and they are extremely busy right now, I personally can't complain. Just be glad they've sent out a couple letters in the mail and have stayed active that way. When I applied for Penn State, I waited four months and did not hear from them once; even when they took 3 weeks to send me a decision after the date they had promised.

I've never had a communication problem with UD admissions, or any other department since older S has been a student. Going through the admissions process with younger S now, both his and my phone calls and emails have been returned in a very timely fashion. Everyone has been extremely pleasant, friendly, informative and eager to please. On the other hand, some much smaller schools that he's sent the same email to (specifically addressed to the regional admissions rep) haven't bothered to respond....

I'm a freshman at the university, so i went through all of this last year and its fresh in my mind. #1 decisions should be sent out this week. I remember getting my acceptance in mid march prior to easter. #2 Last year they were only sent out through the mail, and could not be obtained online. I don't know if they changed the process this year but i highly doubt it. #3 Merit Scholarship information will be sent out in the same letter as the acceptance, so if you don't get a scholarship award with your acceptance, then unless you call up financial aid and protest your out of luck. #4 The business school hear is going to on the rise to the top of the nationwide rankings in the next few years so if you can get in now don't pass up the opportunity.

Good luck to all...

by the way live on laird campus freshman year, the dorms are like living in a hotel room

jmm666, what do you know about the business school that makes you say it's going to rise to the top of the national rankings? Is it because the new president was the former dean of Wharton, or are there other reasons? S has been accepted as an honors student in B&E, and UD is one of his top choices. ANy insight would be appreciated

Lerner College of Business & Economics News Article

The admission's person who did the briefing for the Distinguished Scholar Weekend said they were mailing out the decisions today. She said they received almost 25,000 applications and will be accepting over 9,000 to yield 3,600 for the freshman class.

This is true? I hope so...

any chance that they will be online today? im trying to log in and check my status but the site is going insanely slow and none of the apply links will load. does this mean there in the process of doing it online now?

perhaps they are :)

The admissions portion of their website is indeed totally crashed today. My S is waiting on a transfer decision so it's not time for him, but he has a good friend tearing her hair out. I thought UDel was strictly snail mail for decisions, so I don't understand why the website is down.

the whole site wasnt down for me, just the admissions part. im really nervous now. they said mid march and it IS the 14th...this is either gonna make or ruin my Friday night

where do you login? i don't remember getting a username or password

She didn't say anything about online decision just that they were in the process of sending it out via snail mail.

so you're saying admissions are not posted online? or you just don't know? I found a spot to login (except I don't have a UD ID) for those who applied but I'm not sure if this is for app status AND admissions decision.
