I’ll be the first to go.

Decision: Waitlisted

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I: 1970 [M: 660, W: 640, CR: 670]
[li] ACT: 31 [M: 31, S: 33, R: 28, E: 30, essay 9][/li][li] SAT II: Math 2 770, US History 740, Physics 650[/li][] GPA: UW 3.82, W 4.2?
[] Rank: School doesn’t rank
[] AP/IB: Physics B 4 (self-study), US History 4, English Lit 2
[] Course Load: AP Biology, AP US Gov’t, AP Calculus AB (self-studying BC), AP Physics C: Mechanics (self-study), other normal classes; counselor would probably call this most or second-most difficult course load
[] Awards: Math Tutor Representative [Junior year], Nominated for National Youth Leaders Conference (twice senior year), CSF …absolutely nothing big
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars: Science Coach for academic decathlon (9-11th grade), president of math club, president of politics club, host of logic club (this year)
[] Job/Work Experience: Math/Physics Tutor at my school, JPL Internship (summer before senior year)
[] Volunteer/Community service: I do things for money… haha um I don’t think there’s a section for that. A lot of my extracurriculars are voluntary.
[] Summer Activities: working, took a few courses at a local community college
[] Essays: one was about self-studying physics b, one was personal about family and my gf, i thought i did really well on the why do you want to go to mudd essay, i wrote a short answer about interning at jpl
[] Teacher Recs: really good, i read both. i also got a recommendation from my supervisor at jpl which i didn’t read.
[] Counselor Rec: assuming good
[] Interview: yes, it was sort of awkward, but i don’t think it helped or hurt me. maybe helped in that it demonstrated to them some interest
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] State: CA
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: private, not too competitive
[] Ethnicity: white (middle eastern though)
[] Gender: M
[] Income Bracket: bottom
[] Hooks: i dont know? first generation?
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: essays and subjective stuff.
[] Weaknesses: scores and objective stuff.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I actually figured I’d be rejected because of my scores. I guess they liked my essays and stuff enough to waitlist me
[/ul]General Comments:
If you feel dissuaded by your objective stats and by seeing everyone on here with SATs above 2200 and ACTs above 33, don’t give up! I thought the same thing and I didn’t figure I’d get in any of my top choices (this wasn’t the case!). They don’t just want to see that you can do well on standardized tests, focus on your essays and show them why you want to attend not only a school like mudd, but why you want to go to mudd. good luck to future applicants.

and for those who were accepted, mudd really isn’t that great a school. you should really decline your offer asap. haha jk

btw, braden, i’m the “waitlisted” guy from facebook
