Decisions

I heard an unconfirmed rumor that DU had mailed some EA decisions on December 24. Anyone receive anything?

my son got his letter today - ACCEPTED!

Congratulations! I hope S2 gets a letter soon.

We received an acceptance and scholarship … day after Christmas.

Got acceptance letter today. Dated December 24.

My son got his letter yesterday (12/28) – Accepted!

Still nothing here in the PNW.

idad, nothing to date in our PNW mailbox either . . .

Finally received letter. S2 accepted with nice scholarship award.

congrats to your son, iDad. Son’s letter arrived here in the PNW as well today. He’s not home to open it but size and weight of envelope look promising. First acceptance is a thrill. From a parent’s standpoint, it’s this incredible feeling of "He’s going to college . . . "

S2 just received his acceptance and scholarship.

smbsmom - I know the feeling. We were holding our breath until the first one arrived!

Congrats to all!

Congrats to all, my S got his acceptance in So Cal on 12/28 (I think). Thanks, idad, for your info on the scholarship page, but I’m still hoping to find out more detail about the specific merit levels. Anyone willing to share stats on scholarships they received? We got Pioneer with GPA 3.5 (good academic rigor at very competitive high school)), SAT 2110, good ec’s (varsity team captain 3 years, club founder/president, instrumental musician and multi-sport athlete).

Pioneer Scholarship: 3.45 from independent school; 1430/2150 SATs; solid ECs.

My S2 is excited to meet all the new first years next fall. He is a DU junior who just finished a great semester abroad in the Cherrington program…but he can’t wait to get back on campus. He was involved in first year orientation last year, and is looking forward to do orientation next year when he is a senior as well.

What is the Pioneer Scholarship?

It looks like the Pioneer Scholarship is $11k, and the Chancellor is $15K. Did anyone receive full tuition for merit? It says on their website this is very competitive and awardees will find out in March … does this mean they will increase someone’s initial offer? Anyone know?

My daughter received the University Scholarship, which is $9000 towards tuition and an additional $3000 if she resides in campus housing. I don’t know what the Pioneer Scholarship is.

Wow, I was confused. Apparently, my son’s Pioneer award was only $7,000 with $3000 for on-campus housing. This doesn’t seem to jibe with what’s on the scholarship page on the school’s website, unless the amounts assume the inclusion of the on-campus residency amount:

he University of Denver offers a variety of scholarships to qualified students. If your academic credentials meet various requirements, the Office of Admission will offer you a merit award in your letter of acceptance. Students are automatically considered for merit awards when they submit an application for admission and do not need to submit any additional applications or essays to qualify. Merit awards range from $3,000 to full tuition. Full tuition scholarships are very competitive and recipients will be notified in late March.

Merit-Based Scholarships:
First-Year Awards:
Chancellor- $18,000
Provost- $16,000
Dean- $14,000
University- $12,000
Pioneer- $10,000
Crimson & Gold- $9,000

Berkmountain,

What were the stats that got your D a University scholarship?

My d had 530 V, 690 M, 590 W. Her unweighted average is 89, weighted, 95% Top 25% of class.
