Mechanical engineering. Kind of surprised, but I think I didn’t show “super” interest and probably didn’t spend enough time on the essays. Congratulations to all who got accepted!

Was accepted to Bucknell and Cornell as a transfer… so conflicted on what to do because even though Cornell is a more prestigious school I really felt comfortable at Bucknell and am majoring in Economics there (which I want to pursue) whereas at Cornell I was advised not to because it would be too tough to get in for me. I am majoring in Sociology there instead.

Don’t know what I’m gunna do…

Are you accepted as a transfer for the fall at Cornell or a guaranteed transfer for fall 2011?

I have a D at Bucknell and a D at Cornell. I think both schools are great and you can get a great education at each. I would suggest going w/ the school that feels the best to you, i.e. the best fit. Then, take advantage of everything the school has to offer. Get involved, go abroad, do an internship, do research, visit the career placement office, etc.

I am in a similar situation. I want to major in chemical engineering and have been accepted to Bucknell as a Presidential Fellow, and to Johns Hopkins University. I know that Hopkins has an amazing academic reputation and is very prestigious, but the Bucknell kids seem to have more fun while receiving an equal education. I really could use some help deciding ASAP because I only have 5 days to decide… What do you guys think?

Bucknell’s new 17th President Dr. John Bravman-who spent his entire life at Stanford as a student and a teacher, will begin his duties July 1. Bucknell is about to embark on an exciting time with Dr. Bravman here, and it looks like he will be part of the tenured faculty in the School of Engineering, as well. You can cite all of the accolades that a Johns Hopkins education will give you, but I would not trade the world for the education I am receiving at Bucknell. Yes, I’m working hard and really being challenged as a Bio major (junior year has been hard-as a Pre Med!) but I have found a way to balance all of my work, be part of two great clubs (one as an officer), and still have found time for my fraternity activities, too. The great thing about Bucknell-as many of us on CC have said both students and alums (ericatbucknell)–is that it’s a friendly place that just grows on you each day. I have a lot of friends in Engineering-and they say the same thing, too-Bucknell is the place to be-you can have fun AND be an engineer (because you’ll just organize your time better.) I hope you came to accepted students weekend this past Saturday and got a taste of it-Bucknell is about people–and the people here are super in every way. I turned down other schools for Bucknell-and I have no regrets. Best of luck with your choice (I’m a Presidential Fellow, too) & remember that Bucknell is ranked #5 in Chemical Engineering undergraduate preparation.

In response to Morrismm, I was accepted as a transfer for this Fall, both to Cornell and Bucknell.

You guys don’t think it would be crazy to pass up on an ivy league degree for a “lesser” one? I don’t really think it is but I have different people telling me that I would be insane to do so. Granted they may not realize how good of a school Bucknell is because I know it has very good alumni, job placement, academics, etc… but I would like to get some other opinions.

to LFCYN, i see you were accepted to Bucknell as a transfer student for Fall 2010 and this post was on 4/22/10. Is that the date you heard from Bucknell? My D is waiting for admission decision as a transfer for Fall 2011 and there is not much information out there as to the actual date that decisions are mailed.
