Declaring a major in the application.

I was just wondering how many people did this, and if someone was not to do this, would that harm their application? Would the same potential harm apply to applying for a very competitive major?

I'm just curious why they have this option. I'm referring to CAS mainly, but if this applies to other schools, feel free to give your opinion on them too.

Thanks,

DCH

DCH:

CAS and Stern applicants don't have to choose a major since they don't apply to a particular major like Tisch and Steinhardt, so I would say it makes no difference what you put down or if you say "undecided".

agree. I put down Econ just in case, by major is something that you declare later on after exploring in college so.

The message is quite clear.

I've seen that. I just think that anything in the application would be taken into account in the admissions process. Just happily wondering..
