declaring a major

some quick questions:

1) when do people typically declare a major?
2) lets say I declare my major before 5th semester (in summer)...do i have to complete all pre-reqs before declaring or can they be taken during the same semester of declaration?
3) do all l&s breadth courses have to be completed as well?
4) i want to declare public health, a "capped" major...what does that mean? is there a good chance i will not be accepted into the major?

thanks

1) at the end of their sophomore year

2) no, you can take pre-reqs/lower division classes any time before you graduate. the same goes for 3)

4) i'm not certain about this one, but I think you need to go in earlier for capped majors to show an intent to declare and fill out a form.

for public health, you need to have less than 80 units (AP credits dont count) and a B- in Bio1B. when you want to declare the major, you just go in and talk to the advisor and fill out a form to declare.

Leftist, are you sure about #3? i need to finish all breadth reqs before end of sophomore year if ima double major?

where is this pdf file?

so i read over the pdf and the link...thanks btw..
looks like for a double major i dont have to submit the form by end of sophomore year...
also, even if i do, i can always take breadth's later as long as i show them in my plan...
righhhtt?
