Declaring a minor and not finishing it

What would happen if someone were to declare a minor but not fulfill all the requirements for it before they have to graduate? Would they just graduate with a degree and not the minor or would there be some sort of penalty?

Also, can someone drop a minor after they declare it?

Just wondering...

I’m pretty sure you’ll have to re-declare in order to drop your minor. I’m a politics/philosophy double-major, but I’m likely to turn my philosophy major into a minor. I haven’t explicitly asked since this past winter quarter, but I’m pretty sure (for my majors at least) that I’m going to have to re-declare as a politics major + philosophy minor. But, be sure to verify with your department advisor. It could be different for your major/minor.

yup, you have to redeclare. It’s a simple process though. I declared my minor like a month before graduation. shrug
