declaring change of major in ucla

anyone know the process of changing from ucla's college of letter's and science's to ucla's college of engineering

should you declare this your first quarter, or 2nd???

any suggestions/experiences with such issues???

from what I hear: nearly impossible.

i think it's impossible

From what Malishka's said, if you want it bad enough you can do it. Going from CLS to Engineering will at the very least be a huge pain and you could run into the 216 unit limit

Engineering doesnt have the 216 unit max- i think it is 240 for engineering, some of their majors require 200 min.

Changing majors within L&S is doable... changing schools is quite quite difficult, especially for a transfer. You could attempt to declare a double and then drop one of them.

what you would need to do , and you might want to start doing it now, is making contacts in the schools of engineering. Email them and ask them about the situatiuon, they will probably turn you down at first, then when you get there start asking more and more questions. You would have to have an application that is just as strong if not stronger than the average admit of that major. You might want to look at the preliminary stats for engineering- do you exceed those stats? if so you have a good cause, but you would also need to stand out and write them and outstanding email that talks about more than just the numbers for your desired change.

Econ at L&S which is very hard to change into, basically told me after my compelling email that if my community college GPA is XYZ to go ahead and come in and they will approve the change. My gpa was not though .
