Declined admission from all eight universities I applied to, Ask Me Anything

I did not get accepted into any of the eight universities I applied to. Spent a lot of time writing essays, applications, and even attended two interviews. I'm feeling a mix of frustration and disappointment. My parents still don't know about this, and I'm not sure how to tell them. I figured I'd make this thread as consolation for anyone else in a similar position as myself. Go ahead and ask me anything.

SAT: 2030
GPA: 3.4

You need to find a college that still accepts applications. Give us more details and maybe we can help.

Im so sorry. you must feel terrible rn. If you don’t mind sharing, what colleges did you apply to?

How, with a 2030, did you not get a single acceptance? Did you fail to apply to even a single safety school, or did you assume someplace was a safety that really wasn’t? Where did you apply and for what major? What is your class rank, EC’s, etc?

@Asdf: MIT, Northwestern, Cornell, BU, NYU, USC, UChicago, and UCLA. All competitive out-of-state schools. Poor decision making on my part, honestly.

@Classic: I already have a backup, which is an in-state university. It was honestly my last resort, but I’ve got no choice now it seems. There’s also another school I’ve been waitlisted from.

If you did try any website to chance you for these schools, you probably would not even apply to them and save the money. Of course, if you are sspectacular in any sport would be a different story.

“ask me anything” Did you not follow anyone’s advice (like your school guid counselor)? It appears you either got faulty advice or didn’t follow good advice.

as for speaking w/your family, just approach them humbly and say you overestimated your chances. Best of luck to you

Now we weren’t quite honest in the OP were we.

Like I said in the other post, it’s time to barbeque the viewbooks and shirts of the schools that rejected you and to take a whole new and positive attitude toward the school that you will be attending. You are still you and you didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t look back.

Just like me. Penn State here I come. I guess the 9 to 5 life just wants me. 2090 SAT and 3.9974 GPA. ****.

@Classic: I already have a backup, which is an in-state university. It

??? How do you have that acceptance if you were rejected at ALL schools?

What is your major?

(and who the heck told you that you were competitive for your list???)

I’m surprised you didn’t get into BU. There are still some good universities that have application deadlines in the middle of April.

Wow, I would think you would have gotten into BU.

I understand exactly how you feel.
SAT: 2250
Gpa: 3.2
I only go accepted to cunys and fordham. Rejected from six schools…

At least you actually have a backup. What school is it? It might not be as bad as you think! And you can always transfer afterwards. Don’t feel too bad.

But let this be a lesson to everyone to stock up on safeties, because you really never know. I’m thankful I still have mine :)

That means you did not get shut out (unless it is too expensive), contrary to your thread title. Presumably, you liked it enough to put it on your application list. Now go there and be happy.

Aside from BYU, those choices were just ridiculous with either a 3.4 or a 2030, let alone both.
