Declining balance card meal plan

Can someone please explain the declining balance card meal plan to me? Is it worth it? I’m living in murphree area for both summer b and fall. Thank you!

Not sure of the specifics of the declining balance but if you’re going that route why not just use your own credit card? Most agree the meal plans are not worth it. You’ll be in Murphree in the heart of campus and across the street from restaurants in Midtown.
You’ll earn points back on your own card and have choices.
We did this for my son, he ate with friends occasionally in the dining hall but usually went out.

I agree with the above user. Use your own credit card because you may not always want to eat dining room food and the options available on campus. There are other food options (chipotle, panera, etc.) located around UF and with the declining balance you are restricted to only using UF’s food options. I had contemplated getting a declining balance plan but after speaking to a person who works with the cafeteria services it was best that I stick to my own credit card.
