I wanted to post a few quick notes about our forums... Our parent members usually are fine left to their own devices, but occasionally we run into a problem or two.

I realize that most of our parents are successful adults, and a few may bridle at following someone else's rules. We do our best to enforce these in a transparent and even-handed manner. Indeed, my experience is that most members who read for a while and post a few times quickly adapt to our TOS and never look back.

One of our more important rules is not discussing moderating decisions in the forums. Our moderators are volunteers who freely give of their time to help keep College Confidential a friendly and welcoming place where anyone, regardless of their level of experience, can feel comfortable posting. We don't discuss moderation in the forums to avoid picking apart individual members (or our hard-working mods, for that matter).

If anyone has a problem with a moderating decision, they are free to contact either me or another moderator. Ditto for questions about the TOS. We do read every communication, and will respond to the best of our ability.

We know that our parent members are a key part of our forum, and we get frequent feedback from both parents and students about how their college admissions experience was helped by our community - thanks for your participation!
