At first, I wasn't worried about getting into Florida, however, I was just deferred from EA UGA, so now I'm a little frazzled. Check me out to see if I have a chance.

GPA: 3.34 Core (2 APs weighted, nothing else, all classes honors except Economics)
SAT: 1960 (CR:680 ; M:630 ; W:650)
ACT: 28 (ENG:32 ; M:27 ; R:28 ; SCI:26 ; W:8)

Intended Major: Broadcasting

Essay Topic: About my summer doing this: Now Debate This

ECs: 20hrs comm service w/ Dem. Party of GA, 4 Years Marching Band (2 as drumline capt., 1 as assistant drum major), 4 years Scholar's Bowl (state champs my freshman year, runner up my junior year)

Other possible stuff: If UF accepts transcripts w/ senior grades, my GPA would go up after this year (straight As), got an A in College Lit.

So...?

You are not a shoe-in. If you are OOS I would say maybe to no. If you are instate, your core GPA if weighted for honors and 2 AP is low. And how many AP's does your HS offer? They look at how many you took vs how many you had available to you. Your community service hours of 20, is that a typo? 20 hours is just not so much. Other than band and debate, your EC's are light. Any leadership roles other than drumline? I hate to break it to you, but I think that your chances are not great. Time to get some other applications in. Sorry to be real, but UF is a crapshoot even with better stats.

OOS :(

also, I will have 4 APs completed at graduation. the max I've heard someone being able in their schedule is 9 (we do block schedule, 4 classes per semester, at my school).

and not a typo. 20 hrs of comm service. I figured that because marching band is a large commitment, a lack of other ECs wouldn't be much of a problem.

oh, and I definitely have other apps in (already accepted to 5 schools), this was just my top choice, so I wanted to see what others thought.

UF doesn't take senior year transcripts until after they've made their decision.
Honestly, I'm leaning towards a no. Only 2 APs?
I'm very surprised you got deferred from UGA, I thought their standards for admission was comparable to Florida State.

2 completed, 4 Total APs:

Soph:
German (AP Score:2)

Junior:
US History (AP Score:4)

Senior (both 2nd Semester) :
Statistics
Environmental Science

and I was surprised about UGA as well. My SAT score (1310) was actually their median, and their median writing score (650) was mine as well. My GPA, which is what they weight the strongest in admissions, is what killed me. There's still RD though.

Your GPA is low for FSU also. Many were deferred from FSU from the first admissions cycle with your profile given the GPA and strength of schedule. It's getting tough out there. Many schools see your SAT and see potential, but see your GPA and see that you are not living up to it.

They aren't going to see potential in my GPA, and that I lived up to it and more with my SAT?

Lots of kids can score well on tests like the SAT but do poorly in the classroom. The reverse also can be true. FSU puts more weight on GPA and course rigor than standardized testing.

UPDATE: Just found out I got an A in my College English class. If I were to send my college transcript, will that affect anything significantly?

o wait, I wrote that in my OP...oopz
