Deep Question for Dartmouth Students...

I have a different type of question than are normally posted on this website. I'm not wondering IF I could get into Dartmouth as a transfer, but SHOULD I transfer to Dartmouth. In a nutshell, I am top 5% of my class, Student Government, coaching Club Tennis, a T.A., in a play, E-board for my fraternity...and I have been selected to be the face of my University next year.

Unfortunately, I am not having the college experience that I had envisioned for myself. I find the school materialistic and shallow. As a sophomore, this is my last chance to transfer.

Students of Dartmouth, is the Dartmouth experience so amazing, that it is worth leaving my current college behind? Unlike other transfer students, I have completely intermeshed myself into my current University, so leaving would have some big repercussions for me.

I would leave if the grass on the other side was really greener.

Yes. This place IS that amazing. Dartmouth is like a posh, five-star hotel: it really really caters to its students every whim. Fortunately though, most Dartmouth students are NOT like customers of a five-star hotel: everyone I know here is exceedingly humble, down-to-earth, and shockingly friendly.

But it depends on who you are. What college do you go to currently? What do you feel like is missing? What are you looking for in a college?

Give us some more specifics and we'll be able to help you more.

should be worth the app cost to try -- may not even be an issue. but may as well try it and if you get in then you'll get to decide... which isn't a bad position to be in anyway. and may save yourself a lot of headache
