Deeply disappointed with ACT Score... what are my chances to these schools?

I just got my ACT score a couple of hours ago and I didn’t do well as I thought I did: 28 composite. I think I have to take a reality check as I am really aiming too high for the schools I want to go to. Anyhow, here are my stats:

State of Residence: NC
ACT: 28 (already sent to UNC-CH and NC State)
GPA (UW/W): 4.0 / 4.7917
Rank: 2 / ~350
Intended major: Biochemistry or Biology (pre-med)

AP Courses:
AP Environmental Science
AP Biology
AP English Language and Composition
AP Physics I
AP Chemistry
AP Psychology
AP English Literature and Composition

ECs:

  1. thrift store volunteer (9,10,11,12)
  2. guitar player (9,10,12)
  3. FIRST robotics (10)
  4. VEX robotics (11, 12)
  5. YMCA tutor (11,12)
  6. wetlands research at a state university (12)

Common Application Personal Statement:
-has gotten positive feedback from my AP English teacher and a couple others… so should be good.

My current college list:
UNC-CH
NC State University
Drexel University
Mercer University
Appalachian State University
Rhodes College

Which 4 of these SUPER REACH schools should I still consider applying with my mediocre ACT score?
Emory University
Vanderbilt University
Tulane University
University of Miami
Northeastern University
Johns Hopkins (HA!)

Emory, Tulane, and Miami. You have almost no chance at the others. Look at the common data sets for each school.

Your college list is great. I would not apply to all of those reach schools. Maybe pick 1 or 2. Are you a senior?

Yes I’m a senior. I can’t retake the ACT since I had just started my wetlands research :frowning:

If you want a chance at the top schools, I think it’d be best for you to not apply EA at all and go for RD. Use November and December wisely.
