Son was waitlisted at Deerfield. I know a couple others were as well, but info incomplete and not collected on a single thread. Just wondering how many of you were waitlisted, how many intend to stay on the waitlist, how many accepted and of those how many planning on going.

I realize that this is not exactly a complete sample, but I thought it might help us understand what we're up against.

Also, if anyone has any info. on Deerfield waitlist - i.e. how many waitlisted this year, how many have gotten in off the waitlist in prior years, etc, please feel free to post your experiences - it would be very much apppreciated by those of us still in limbo.

The most waitlisted was SPS BY FAR. They have over 150!!!!!

I heard Deerfield has about 60, but equal number in fresh and soph I believe, and some for Junior, So it's better to be a waitlisted freshman then older grades. Also, like everyone on this thread only recieved a waitlist or acception, rejections aren't out yet, and like eveyone applied to Deerfield on this board, well ALOT. :)

I was waitlisted and am probably staying on.

I think if you call the Deerfield admissions office, someone should be able to give you accurate historical data as to how many applicants were offered spots off the waitlist.

I know really, I thought the same thing! :D I was just saying what I heard. Hey, it's possible, were all qualified applicants who applied to all top schools, and there are a TON of posters on here around this time anway. Will you stay on the waitlist blalala?

naw. :) I go to Andover but mi sissy got waitlisted. she's kidda bummed bout it tho... even tho she got into Exeter. Do you think it's worth it? Rejectin Exeter for wat might be Deerfield? Literature is her strongest point - not to mention tat she has a gift for poetry.

I would say take Exeter and run with it. There's a very small chance that she would be accepted at Deerfield off the waitlist, so I would definitely take the amazing option right in front of her instead of hoping for the very long-shot of being accepted off the waitlist.

Boy oh boy... you go to Andover, your sister's strength is Literature, but yet she gets wait listed at Andover and accepted at Exeter!! I am NEVER going to figure this admission stuff out! I agree with tommeister, "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" and Exeter is a pretty good "bird" to have. Plus just think of the Thanksgiving dinners you can have... it will bring sibling rivalry to a new level!!! (She can start calling her big brother a "smurf";))

I was accepted into Deerfield...I'm going to Andover, though. I felt bad reporting to the Admissions Office that I wouldn't be enrolling (they sent accepted applicants a pin and green bracelet saying "Bleed Green..."). I loved my interview there -- my interviewer was incredibly friendly and welcoming.

LOL, yes 2sonmom, I was kidding..... I am not, and never have been an admissions officer ( although I do play one on TV)....
ps I am kidding about that tv part too..... :)
