prepparent and twosonmom - note that I said "in that case" ;)

thx. i need she is going to Exeter and in time she will come to love it. BUT OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :O RIVALS NOW ON!!!!! lols

I'm sorry, but schools DO take people from the wait list. That's the whole point of one.

sorry ;)

Yeah, thats true. Besides, by the after Aril 10th, not that many people are left on it anyway. Your chances are much, much better after that. :D Thats what I think anyway, besides, yeild rates are unecpectedly going down, even at the biggies, and the schools did not prepare for thst, except for maybe SPS, whose acceptance rate went up, with way more apps then last year. Thats what I heard anyway..... :D

My son is definitely going to Deerfield. Not many turn it down excpt to go to Andover or Exeter. By the way he was rejected by his "safety" school.

Do you mind sharing the name of that school? BrooklynGuy's niece had a similar experience, waitlisted at Williston-Northhampton and accepted at Andover.

I was accepted into Deerfield, although I'll be going either to Groton or Andover...I haven't decided yet.

Sofi, why aren't you considering DA?

I've heard (and someone can certainly correct me if I'm wrong), that historically Deerfield has a very small waitlist. It would surprise me that it would be as many as 60 this year. They certainly have taken a few kids off of the waitlist in past years, but I'm not sure if that happened last year or not. Does anyone else have more up to date info?

I understand that Deerfield has in the past received more acceptances than they had beds. Apparently this has happened several times so they've limited their acceptance letters very close to the number of beds they have available.

I can't find it now, but I thought there was an earlier thread that said DA had waitlists of 25 people per grade this year.

Then that should be good news for kids on the waitlist.

My guess is it's much more than 25 people per grade. If you look at the "Meet your Future Classmates" thread there are currently 11 CCers that are waitlisted at Deerfield. I think DA waitlists a lot of people and this was experienced last year on this board as well. And I don't think they take many off the waitlist either.

Jonathan - Deerfield seems like a really good school, and I'm honored to have been accepted, but I don't think it's for me. There were many little details that struck me badly when I visited, and I'm just not interested. Anyone who is going though, congratulations! I'm sure it's a great place. I think the way people say I don't like something in Spanish is much better - no me cae bien - which just implies that the thing doesn't suit you, not that it's bad.

Whoops! I'm actually Sofi the chevere, I just realized I posted under my Dad's username. My bad.

My observation is that Deerfield tends to appeal to sporty guys--maybe sofi is a jock but I suspect not

You're right, nervedoctor - I like sports, and I exercise every day, but it's not my passion. I'm more the nerdy, literary type.

I was accepted to Deerfield too, and am most likely going.

i was wait listed at DA, but i recieved a blurb in the margin stated that i was "high on the list." i was accepted by sps and groton, but i think DA has more competitive athletics. i can't stick around until to 4/10 and wait for DA to make up its mind. how quickly to move someone off the WL, pre-4/10?

My D has been accepted for 9th grade and is going. We're thrilled for her!
