On the Deerfield website, it says that students will be given a laptop if attending Deerfield. Does anyone know what kind of laptop they give?

mac/apple

What I have heard was that it was a Macbook, the white one. Also, there was some conspiracy about students having to return their laptops at the end of their senior year. Is this true?

If you come in as a 1st or 2nd year student you are allowed to keep your laptop unpon graduation.

Entering as a 3rd, 4th or PG, I am not sure of. Dont most upperclassman have a laptop by that time? I am sure that is they didnt and the were getting FA, the school would find away.

“For the entering classes of 2007 and 2008, the standard laptop is a Lenovo. For the entering classes of 2009 and 2010, the standard laptop is a MacBook.” - DANet

If I’m not wrong, those who enter as freshmen/sophomores get to keep it after their last year for free, but those who do as juniors/seniors/PGs have to pay a minimal fee.

Hope I helped!

(If you’re applying to DA, you should really check DANet out. [DANET | A site for the Deerfield Campus Community](http://danet.deerfield.edu/))

True. If you have it for three years, you own it.

Thanks guys. Does anyone know what other schools also give laptops? I know that Hotchkiss also gives out macbooks.

Not so sure on that one. I went and visited Hotchkiss, and talked with many alumni but there was no mention of Hotchkiss giving away laptops. And I do not know of any other schools that give away laptops.

I’m sure that hkiss gives laptops. a) my friend goes there and told me. b) my interviewer told me. c) it says so on their website

I saw many MacBookPros on the tours we went on in the Fall…

Sheesh . . . and I was impressed to learn that Deerfield sends M&Ms to admitted students!
