Did anyone else get a letter from Deerfield congratulating you on your SSAT scores? And do you think it's a good sign? The letter did say "Although standardized testing is but one part of a candidate's profile, it can be a predictor of future academic success and an indicator of critical thinking skills." It goes on to say how they're pleased that I'm applying and things like that.

WOW! Ok, so I don’t know what it means, but your SSAT scores must’ve been outstanding to have them send you a letter! I don’t know that I’ve ever heard people getting letters before. Moosiehubs spoke to the AO once regarding Moosieboy’s first SSAT scores, and the AO was super nice and said they were on the “high end.” Moosieboy took them again and scored WAY better, and we never heard a thing. Again, I don’t know what it means one way or another, but it’s definitely a good sign that you’ve been noticed! Whether or not it translates into acceptance is another thing, but IMO it’s always good to know you stand out in a positive way :)

Oh yeah, I got the same exact letter. Same exact wording as well!

What? Now I’m worried… It seems like everyone but me is getting letters. Especially since I got 99th percentile overall on the test. Maybe they’ve determined that I’m too bad for them…

Just so you know, my son got that letter last year and so did his best friend ( both 99th percentile). DS got in, his friend was WL. It’s just one more piece of the puzzle. A good piece of the puzzle, but JUST a piece of the puzzle.

But maybe that means I’m rejected.

I got 99 percentile overall as well, but don’t kill yourself over it. A 99 percentile is something to be proud of!

No, not at all, I got the letter a week after they received my test scores. I hadn’t even submitted my application in yet.

Okay. Well I’m not sure how to react. But I guess I’ll find out M10

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor :D

:)) Right back at you!

Well, I guess they only sent the letter out to the kids who got a 99 percentile. Good luck to everyone though!

And not even to all of the 99 percentilers…

It said “What an accomplishment it is to have earned a perfect score on the SSATs!” i scored an 800 on one of the sections so maybe that’s who they sent the letter out to

FWIW, my older daughter had 2 800s and was one question away from a third, and never got any sort of “great job” letter from any school…and she took the test early in the fall (so schools had plenty of time to write to her). My point is, don’t read anything into NOT getting a letter.

I only got a letter from Deerfield and based on your thread about your prep school experience, your older daughter did not apply to Deerfield. I don’t think other schools send out Congratulatory letters, but Deerfield does

@swimmergirl: Over the years, other parents have reported that there are a number of schools that send out letters like this…

oh Alright, but of all the schools I applied to, only Deerfield did so I wasn’t sure

Did u select deerfield to automatically receive your test scores, even before u got a chance to look at it first? If so, then it might be a mass-mailed form letter.

Yes I did on the SSAT portal, maybe it was
