You continue to make me want to go to Blair even more. That is unique, being able to choose one’s advisor. I am not sure of this, but I do not think that the faculty sits down to talk about the students or that a lot of them have academic monitors. As a parent, what was your impression of the school overall in comparison to other schools? Thanks for the link, and more importantly your time!

I think you can also select your own advisor at Taft. Blair prides itself on having good faculty/student relationships beyond the classroom.
When we visited, we weren’t sure what to expect. After the tour, we were very impressed with the beauty of the campus and the fact that the facilities were new or in very good repair. We thought it compared favorably with some of the very competitive schools we saw.

That’s important. I think it shows that schools should not be chosen because of their “name”.

I think I will also look into Peddie and Loomis Chaffe, but I have just a bit of knowledge on both schools

PM me if you have any questions. My sibling goes there, and I am also going to be a class of 2015 graduate!

Thanks! I will do that, but I’ll do more research first… Haha

Blair has several classrooms with Harkness tables. I went to Blair many years ago, and it was the best educational experience of my life, giving me a life long appetite for learning. I am now a physician at the Mayo Clinic. Blair allowed me to blossom both academically and socially. It combines an academically rigorous experience with a LOT of nurturing from (in my opinion) the most involved and student centered faculty of any boarding school with which I am familiar. Just one man’s opinion, but do yourself a favor and visit the school. You’ll be VERY impressed. Best of luck.

Sounds great. I definietly want to visit, as it might even be my first choice!
