I applied regular decision to Stony Brook a month ago as a transfer student. I was planning on majoring in biology at first then transfer into the Clinical Laboratory Science program after completing the prereqs. However, after going through the costs and how much time it will take to complete the prereqs, I've decided to stay in my town for another year and complete as much as I can at the local university to save money (no dorm costs) and then transfer over to SB in a year and complete the rest then hopefully transfer into the program. Will SB let me defer acceptance for one year? And how hard it is to transfer into the CLS program? It took me a while to realize what I wanted to do in life while taking classes at my local community college, and now that I've finally realized it, I want it more than anything. I'm just afraid my transcripts will be mind-boggling to some of the staff (I finished my associates degree in Liberal Arts Humanities and Social Sciences, then transferred to SUNY Albany but withdrew my first semester due to family problems. Now I'm thinking of going back there for a year and then transfer to SB).

Any information?
