I searched on the site for the University Park campus' policy, but I couldn't find it. I was accepted for Spring 07 and sent in the notification and fee, but because of financial constraints, I won't be able to attend this semester. I haven't been able to get through to admissions because of how busy they've been. Does anyone know if I can defer for a semester or if I will have to reapply for Fall 07? I was depending on an ROTC scholarship, but that fell through for now because they don't give out mid-year transfers, but I've talked to them for the Fall semester, so all I need to do is defer if I can. If it matters...I'm an OOS transfer with 70 units as a history major. Any advice appreciated!

I imagine they'll let you defer, altho they may wanna push you into coming for summer session. Keep trying to get thru. Welcome to the world of long lines, endless calls, and "that's not my responsibility" answers.

You might wanna try an email to admissions ... or try the Dean's Office in Liberal Arts. They might be able to help get an answer for you.

I am 100% sure that you can defer your admission for 1 year. I read this from PSU's most recent common data set a few weeks ago.

Marinefan, where are you from? And did you already get a room assigmnet?

I'm from CA, and no I didn't get a room assignment. I haven't even registered for classes because deferring a definite necessity (unfortunately).

If you're successful on the ROTC thing, that will carry real weight, especially being OOS. That will be real cash for the U. and they like full paying OOS. Like every U.

Umm, if you paid the $300 acceptance fee and still haven't notified them that you won't be attending, then you should have been assigned a room by now. Also, you couldn't register for classes anyway because they do that during orientation, which is held only on the 14th.
