3.7 GPA, still nothing on WA(no 7th semester grade) and no mail.

Hello.
I’ve been accepted into LSA.
But as I was reading the stats of the people who got deffered, i was kind of surprised.

My stats
UWGPA: 3.7
WGPA; 4.43
SAT(2400):2000
SAT(1600):1370

A lot of other peoples stats were stronger than mine?

My main concern is this.
From what I gather, in order for the university to recind, you need to do pretty bad (straight B’s)

I think I will probably go 3.5 (UWGPA) this semester bringing down my GPA slightly.
I know this isn’t really bad enough to recind usually, but my gpa will dip below the average of the University acceptance (3.7ish). Will that hurt me, or can I go 3.0 and still be fine?

All comments are appreciated!

letter: option 1
WA: option 1

so with letter option 1, do we still need to send them our fall semester grade report?

to concrete pencil: you will get rescinded if your senior year grades have 3 C’s, one D, or one F. B’s are okay (i mean still try to do your best but don’t worry too much unless you start getting C’s)

psp: well letter 1 says to send the fall grades if you don’t have a decision by the time they come out…so you don’t need to but if you can then it would be a good idea.

so deferred basically means rejected right?

no, i knew of a few people at my hs over the years who went from deferred to accepted. i think of it as “don’t count on getting accepted”. but it’s not a 100% for sure rejection. expect the worst, hope for the best

oh well. so would it be a better deferral letter if they ask for your 7th semester grade?

anyone UM freshman who had been similar situation before?? i was want to know the difference between the two deferral letters. which is friendlier?? the one asking for 7th semester grade or the one that clearly says that you’re deferred?

“oh well. so would it be a better deferral letter if they ask for your 7th semester grade?”

still not sure about that one

so far i’m the only one who posted who got letter 2, so hopefully more people will post and give us a better idea as to which one is “bad”

letter 2 and option 2 for me svt cobra

^ and wat r u stats?? maybe we could draw out a conclusion with more letter 3 and option 2 stats.

I really cant see the difference between the two letters based on the stats…they’re all kinda random.

I dont get why they tell some people that they want to see their grades and not others. It makes no sense. I am so confused on their process.

So I have been accepted for a four year, $180,000 scholarship for the Navy. I have been deferred to Michigan and they have asked for my semester grades. My Semester GPA is a 3.975. Will the NROTC unit give a good word and give me a better chance of getting into Michigan?

All of my teachers said I should get in no problem but I’m wondering if the NROTC unit pushes for acceptance for the students it gave scholarships.

i think they just randomly ask deferred applicants for their semester grade. because ppl with either letter 1 or 2 have good GPA and scores. so i think theres no such thing called soft(better) deferral. they’re all the same.

i called the admissions office today hoping someone could explain what the difference between the two letters was.

he told me the same thing we already know…
letter option 1- dont neccessarily have to send fall grades, but it can improve chances. not sending grades wont hurt your chances either.

letter option 2- have to send in fall grades like they requested.

he said that he wasnt allowed to tell me anymore than that, when i asked him which letter was ‘better.’

^ well, if he couldnt tell you anything when you asked him which one is better, then i think that means one of these two letters must be better. otherwise he could just tell you they are the same

yea, thats true

but wouldnt letter 1 be better since they are just waiting to compare you to the rest of the applicant pool? unlike letter 2, where they need additional info in order to make a decision?

well, i dont know, but i hope letter 1 is better since i got letter 1. lol. we’ll see
