Deferals, Read This

svtcobra- i dont know about that, because at my school i know a few people who have gotten options 1 and 2. I know a few people in other schools who have both options too.
and im in michigan as well

i think it definetly has to do with the strength of our application

yeah, you’re right, i just thought it was weird that all of us got letter 2

anyway, semester grades came back this weekend, and my u-m gpa stayed the same. not good but at least it didn’t go down :stuck_out_tongue: oh well. i’ll have my counselor send them in tomorrow, wish me luck haha

how long did it take for your grades to be received by Mich? this Wed is going on 3 weeks for me.

when will the deferrals find out about their final verdict? Anyone got new decisions? Has anyone sent midyear reports or are those just for option 2 letter recipients?

my 7th semester’s GPA is 3.6 and my um gpa when i applied was between 3.7-3.75. should i even bother sending my 7th semester grade report to them?

dare7to7dream- based on last year, they should give our final decision (accept/waitlist/reject) by mid-april

psp-fifa-fan- im not sure if I would send in your grades, because im not too sure if it would “enhance your status in the deferred pool.”

If you took much harder classes (ap/honors) compared to your previous years, then it may be worth it to send them.

i called UM, they begin looking at deferrals at the beggining of april

i am only taking one AP class in my senior year. so we wont get our final decision till mid-april right? should i still sign up for CSI profile then since its due march?

yeah i got deferred too. Don’t remember which letter cause I threw it away as soon as I got it. my gpa is around 3.4 or 3.5 and 32 ACT. My grades this semester were good though, like 3.8 or 3.9 with 3 AP classes. I really hope they will see the improvement and realize that I have changed a lot in three years when my gpa was so low. I heard that we may get our decisions sometime in march though, mid april is the latest we can get them.

so would sending a worse gpa 7th semester grade report lower my chance?

psp-fifa-fan- yea i think it would definetly lower your chances, since there wasnt an improvement.

samuelson777- i think you should be good since your gpa improved quite a bit and your act was good to begin with.

When i looked through last years decision thread, there were a couple of people here and there that got accepted before april, but the majority got in around april-ish. people who heard earlier said that heard back within a few weeks after sending in their 7th semester grades (which means that doing well 7th sem. could gauruntee your spot).

so should i sign up for CSI profile?

Edit: Re-looked through thread, I have letter 2 but a little different.

( No other deferrels yet?)

If it’ll help anyone… Mine from last year:

ACT: 29
GPA: 3.9
Course load: 7? Significant difference between Math course load and English course load. Multiple Math/Science APs, bare minimal to graduate English and History.
Extracurricular: 3 (significant work experience, and 2 “social” clubs, nothing academically noteworthy)
School: Hard to say… Atleast 8, probably 9.
State: Instate
Letter: Send 7th semester grades
Wolv. Access: What???

Additional note, I think I was right on the cusp, because they sent me an acceptance email immediately after they got my 7th semester grades (and they were not great…), where as it seems almost everyone else heard back a month and a half after that.

…what are 7th semester grades?? lol. u just send your 1st semester grades after the semester is over, i thought :|

^You don’t deserve to get in if you can’t figure that one out…

Spend 3 seconds thinking about it.

Well, just in case you can’t figure it out lol.

There are two semesters per school year. Since you’re a senior when you apply, you have completed 3 years of high school and thus completed 6 total semesters (3 years * 2 semesters per year = 6 total semesters). Thus your 7th semester is the first semester of your senior year.

bumping this thread

Teacher recs: GREAT
Counselor rec: GREAT
Letter: the “good” one that says I’m still in a special group being considered
Wolv. Access: 7th semester grades has not shown up, I don’t need to send them

quoted from the letter: “…While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, it is still good news. Your application is one of a group that remains under consideration.”

ACT: 25

I was under the impression that I had the better deferral letter. Same one as LolyGAGHa.
“…While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, it is still good news. Your application is one of a group that remains under consideration.”
Wolv. Access:
Nothing yet, but my counselor sent them. It won’t hurt me that I sent my first trimester grades in and still plan on sending my second trimester grades in March as well, will it? Just showing some initiative…lol. I recieved a 4.05 first tri.
