I did early action for Umass Amherst and was recently defered in January. I was wondering if anyone who got defered too from umass amherst if they got any notification or acceptance from the school?
Great question and I was wondering the same. DS was deferred too and I fear was put into the bottom of the pile. No news for us. Not expecting to hear until early April. I would LOVE a poster to prove me wrong! Another question: has anyone been denied acceptance? My gut/theory is that the “easy acceptances” that easily pass the computer algorithms are told first. Then the candidates that are on the cusp /gray zone and require greater scrutiny are told later. This would also by necessity include those that are denied. Just my theory.

I think they are doing all the kids from regular decision first so they can compare defered kids to them. . They are going to start reviewing defered kids late march. -___- but this doesnt help the anxiety waiting for them to make a decision
I was also deferred early action and my spire has shown “defer to regular decision” for months. I think deferred applicants are considered after regular decision applicants

Aquan3123123. No I dont. I think it is one of those good news/bad news deals. Good news - a real person not a computer will be reviewing you app. Bad news - that takes longer. That is my theory only but it explains why the deferals /offer of second choice /waitlists and denials are left to the end.

Not us. I think for the lucky deferred (I’m being sarcastic) Iwe are looking at the week after next @ 3/30.

Finally, DS’s status has changed from “deferred to regular action” to “under review”. Realistically, if that means it was just looked at yesterday then we probably won’t get anything official for another week.

GPA 3.9 weighted ACT score 32 (superscore 33) Applied to Biochemistry.
