Hi- my daughter was deferred from several colleges from their early action pool. Some have stated that she should indicate the college is her first choice in her LOCI. But she isn’t sure what her first choice is still? What if she writes the college is her first choice and they admit her and she doesn’t go? This is for regular decision. Is this unethical? I feel like the colleges hold the power so I don’t feel too badly for them!
D is in the same boat with a deferral and uncertainty of her number 1 school at this point. It’s a bit of a dance when writing LOCI’s for sure, but I advised her to express enthusiasm but not to lie and tell the school it was her first choice or that she would attend if accepted.
Yes- it is hard as she might think the school is number one if she doesn’t get in a different one or if she has more time to figure it out! Just feels unethical to say number one if it isn’t… but it might not be lying if it ends up being number one! Hard to know… yes- might be best to show alot of enthusiasm without saying she would go if admitted…
