Deferral Help

How to get accepted after being deferred???? Other than making sure senior grades are awesome, what should i do! please, I am desperate. I got deferred from 4 schools in the past 2 days :(

It depends which school you got deferred from. Maintain your GPA, send new test scores if you are taking one, and any other achievements you may have until end of next February.

Good luck.

I retook the ACT this weekend and I am hoping for a good score. I am probably going to get all A’s this semester (hopeffully, AP Bio is kicking my butt). I am super stressed now :(

I saw in your other replies that you were deferred from tulane, cwrs, ncsu, and georgetown. One of the main reasons qualified or over qualified applicants are deferred is because they fail to show dedicated interest to the school, as private schools that offer early action really aim to improve their yield, especially when the obviously overqualified applicants turn them down for more competitive schools. I would make sure you show continued interest to the school you are hoping to get into.

@AnEpicIndian For CWRU, I had an interview. I guess I will email the admissions ppl there and tell them I am still interested blah blah. For Tulane I applied early, emailed the admissions a few times. For georgetown I had a fantastic interview and i joined their mailing list as I could not visit. NCSU, i have legacy there so i have practically grown up on the campus. Nonetheless, I will email ncsu admissions telling them that I am very interested in ncsu and i hope they consider me for reg dec. do you think i am competitive applicant? or was it really an “interest” problem?

@ivyhopefulebound‌ I certainly think you were competitive enough for NCSU, especially considering you haven’t applied to engineering. As long as you maintain decent-stellar senior grades, you have a nice shot in the regular round.

As for Case, it seems that institution tends to be more self selective than most colleges, meaning although the acceptance rate is high, the majority of the applicants have stellar stats. They certainly care about yield.

Tulane tends to accept applicants around your range, maybe a bit higher. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Georgetown seems to be the only university that sticks out in the EA colleges you’ve applied to, as it seems to be your highest reach. I honestly wouldn’t expect much more if I were you.

@ivyhopefulebound‌ When are you gonna send the “continued interest” letter? Because I’m on the same boat.

@AnEpicIndian Thanks, I really hope NCSU pulls through. Tbh, I was surprised I didn’t get in. Case, yeah they are slective. but hopefully, RD comes around. I will try to be showing more “interest” with them.
Tulane, i also hope rd works out

and Georgetown yah that was my reach school so understandable

@bigred19 I will probs start soon. maybe early next week. Which school are you sending for?

@ivyhopefulebound‌ I’m sending it to Cornell. I’ve been looking around and people are saying to send it at the end of January/early February. The thing is, I don’t have any new achievements to update on. Idk what to do lol

@bigred19 I think just reiterating that you would like to attend. also make sure you keep really good grades. If you need ot retake your SATaCT now is the time to do so.

@ivyhopefulebound‌ Yeah, I’m trying to. Senioritis was starting to hit me hard last month lol

@ivyhopefulebound‌ review these articles for additional things you can do to improve your chances…
