Deferral letters?

I keep hearing that there are two deferral letters and I wanted to know which one was better? Actually, are there actually two? Mine says after the bold sentence,
"because you are in this select group, we hope your interest in Michigan continues, and we will keep you informed of our progress."
Is this the good or bad one or is this the only one?

If before your letter reads, " Strong fall semester or second trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants…," then it is the better of what’s cycling through UM’s deferred applicants. I can’t say it for sure, but because our letters do not require 7th semester grades, our applications are strong as is and just need to be compared to other incoming applications. They believe our grades are acceptable and we are capable of completing the curriculum, however, they aren’t sure if it should be us who get an acceptance or someone else with similar stats.

there are actually 3 types [that we know of here on CC :P]

since it says ‘select group’ on yours, that’s a good sign. can’t say for sure if it’s the best, though.

Is it signed by Theodore L. Whoever, Provost Somethingorother? Those are the good ones. Also, why would you make an entirely new thread about something that’s already being discussed? :/

Ok thanks, I didn’t see the other thread until after I posted this.

Guys do any of you know what are the three types of deferral letters, what are some of the key things that the letter contains? And what they are from best to wors?

it’s cool man. i think they’re many different ones, but it mainly depends on the person who wrote your letter and whether it requires you to send your 7th semester grades. for example, the one signed by the theodore guy is good, because he’s like the VP of admissions, so it shows that your application was examined by TOP MEN (lol, hope you guys get it). also, that letter doesn’t require you to send in your grades and nothing will have changed on WA. but if the letter is signed by the admissions counselor, then i’m pretty sure that that’s the “bad” one and it requires you send in the grades.

omg lol. you got a deferral letter, what do you expect…to get accepted right away? just chill and finish off the semester strong.

MI2014- wow your real nice arent you…I’m asking because I want to know if my chances at admission are still strong, yeah your right chill out and finish off the semester strong but did I ever indicate in any way that I was panicing? I merely asked which letter I got and if it was the good one. Besides people have received this letter and got accepted in a week so I’m really just asking, no need to be mean.

My deferral letter looked nothing like any of yours…but were you deferred from the school in general?
I got accepted to LSA but deferred from Ross.
